Quote: I’m discussing a relevant landmark legal precedent. How do you get that I’m “comparing” slavery to gay marriage?
It was in a landmark decision involving Jim Crow which is a direct result of the Civil War, see Plessey v. Ferguson.

Quote: If you don't know how you compared the two you really should educate yourself before spouting "separate but equal".
I understand where “separate but equal” cams from and why it was struck down. If you don’t know that legal precedents and concepts can be applied in cases different than the original, you should really educate yourself on how the law works. Two issues don’t have to be of equivalent harm or intensity to use precedent.

But that’s the state of the right in this country, just running to yell about “slavery” and being offended instead of educated all the time.

Quote: But see, that’s the present day left in this country.

They have absolutely no idea who Hitler was.. to them, that’s Trump! Zero clue about what fascism really was, they think Trump and being patriotic means fascism. Absolutely no clue about real racism, bigotry, or intolerance, and yet look at their own actions.

Instead, they’ve worn out those historical words so much by attributing them to trivial crap that they’ve truly diluted the historical meaning of those words.

It’s kinda like the story about a boy who cried wolf, except given their actions, I’m starting to wonder if it’s not just ignorance.
What are you even talking about here? Am I wearing out those historical words like “legal precedent?”

Quote: Ah yes. Still afraid of the gays. Don't get too close, you might catch it.

Also, if you don't think men and women in college don't use each other's bathrooms, you've never been to college.
Do you have a single logical response to any post or do you just shoot off the latest snarky leftist comeback that you heard on Rachel Maddow? Pretty sure he said nothing about gays and was speaking purely to changing/multiple genders.

Talking about how the left doesn’t know or understand history, historical context, and true meanings of certain words and phrases.

Clearly, someone who blindly supports the modern day left in this country cannot see this and wouldn’t know what’s being talked about.

So,do you just not know that legal precedent can be (and always has been) applied among disparate cases, or do you just wrongly think that every application of precedent equivocates the issues in question? You must lose your mind listening to SCOTUS recordings.

Quote: All I would say is I've lived in a state that gave LGBT all the same rights and tax deductions as married couples but termed it "civil unions". The day after that law passed, LGBT activists sued saying it wasn't enough until it was called marriage.
If I remember, one of the reasons this was an issue was because all of the other laws and rules written by states and local governments that only recognized "marriage", such as for things like loved ones medical decisions, or life insurance, etc. So it's either go back and re-write thousands of other laws to assure equal rights, or be done with it by just making it "marriage".

I wasn’t the one talking about “separate but equal.” I also don’t dehumanize those holding the opposing viewpoint by referring to them using historically evil epithets.

Oh, and I don’t lose my mind over anything... not a liberal, sorry.
