I'm going to say no that they are at Republic. I've just seen tons of these guys here interviewing.

Quote: Deal is you had to of had United Express experience. Maybe the guy got a hometown base, gotta build your time somewhere. I can tell you for a fact that unless you live 6 minutes from the airport you are based at and you are home every night, you'll be looking before the end of your 1 year training contract.
Your right, i did get the base i wanted and you have to start somewhere. So I will go with the flow til the end of the year contract, then i will either stay or go somewhere else. Having CRJ time will obviously make someone more marketable.

yeah just think, if you held off for a little longer you could have had Skywest and upgraded before your contract is up with Mesaucks. Have fun with that!!

Well, Mesa is where all the Skywest pilots get their initial jet training, right?

Seriously tho, to Lewis- I had a few buddies at Mesa who would rather have had their nuts ripped off by weed whacker than stay there. After a month on the line, you'll start realizing how much QOL is worth and hopefully come to your senses about that place.

Good Lord...The guy only asked if there was anybody on here that may be in his up-coming class! Lay off people. Fine Mesa sucks, who cares about that right now, if that was his concern, he probably would have posted so. Anyhow, there is plenty to read on these forums about each and every airline, and I am sure that the word is already out. Just my .02 cents here!

Lewisflyer83 doesn't know what he's doing. You don't need RJ time to get hired at SKW, XJT, RAH or any other of the somewhat respectable regionals. He's at 850 hours, so it‘ll take what 2-3 months to meet the mins for SKW. OK so he waits and gets on with SKW let's say at the 4 month mark. At first he is awarded MKE but before he even completes training he's in ORD. Now he upgrades in ORD or MKE in about 2 1/2 years (est., could be a lot less).

OK here’s what's going to happen to you. You'll sit reserve in ORD for say 9 months. Think not, guess again, a friend of mine was hired by Mesa last August and he's still on reserve in ORD; he’s about to interview with RAH (sound familiar). At Mesa it’ll take you 3+ years to upgrade but you're leaving after 1 so now you go to SKW, RAH or XJT. Your upgrade time there is about 2 1/2 years or less plus the one year you just WAISTED!!!!!!!!!! You gave up all those seniority numbers at the regional you what to work for in order to gain what you say is "Marketable RJ experience" that you really didn't even need. LOL! Ignorant!

All I can say is enjoy 1st year pay twice SJSer! Yes I'm being harsh but you need it. Your logic is seriously flawed, but you’re an SJSer, so I wouldn’t expect anything less!

BTW, are you wondering why no MAG pilots are coming to your defense? Are you wondering why you’re not getting any replies from other May 7th MAG students? Hmmmmmm? Take a look around at other threads like this one for Comair, AWAC, RAH, XJT and SKW; they're getting lots of replies and lots of "Congrats see you on line," but not MAG. I wonder why, Hmmmmm?

Enjoy your bottom feeder airline! Oh and my advice is to bring your own lube for JO (John Ornstein), you're going to need it when your day gets cancelled and you don't get paid a dime. Actually you'll at least get $1.20 an hour per diem (industry low)!

That is a powerful statement!

Lewis, fortunately you have 850TT, so you are in pretty good shape for other regionals. If you decide to stick with Mesa, here is the best advice I can offer you. Start applying to other airlines immediately. Skywest and American Eagle both have an ORD base. Skywest and Eagle are two of the top tier regional airlines. Mesa is the worst of the worst. Skywest upgrade is about 2 years. Eagle's upgrade is probably 3-4 years if you got hired today. That is about the same as Mesa's upgrade time!!! Also, apply to Pinnacle as they are within a very close commute.

DO NOT WORRY ABOUT YOUR TRAINING CONTRACT AT MESA!!!
As soon as you are offered a job at Skywest, Eagle, Pinnacle, or somewhere else, take it immediately. From what I hear, it is too damn hard to enforce those contracts. Even if they were enforced, that money is a small price to pay. Think about it, if you spend just one extra year as FO for Mesa when you could have been a captain for Skywest, that is $30,000 you are missing out on!! Not to mention you will be building that valuable TPIC a full year earlier. That means you are elegible to be hired by the major airlines a full year earlier. That means an extra year of making big money $$$ during your career. By not breaking that small $10,000 training contract, you could be costing yourself roughly $150,000 or more over your career. Not to mention the crappy QOL you have to put up with at Mesa.

If I were you, I would keep flight instructing for another two months. Apply to Skywest, Eagle, and Pinnacle. You already meet the mins for Eagle and Pinnacle, and you will have Skywest mins in about 2 months. Trust me. I don't want to have to say, "I told you so!!" when you come back on this forum asking about Skywest, Eagle, and Pinnacle in 6 months because Mesa sucks! If you do decide to go to Mesa to build time, do not worry about the training contract. Get out of there as soon as you can. It could be very costly NOT to break that training contract.
