The hard thing to estimate is the long term seniority as many PHX FOs took CA upgrades in LAX and will be coming back to PHX as the current PHX CAs retire. I would guess that upgrading in PHX for new guys will take years longer then most other bases.

Bout 30 new FOs to phx in the vacancy bid

And 767 went 143XX, seems like you can get into PHX on gp 3 in a year and change that’s not too bad...

What kind of trips does the 76 do outta Phx, lots of Sth Murica? Seems like 76 is downsizing at other bases, soon to be a displacement for Phx too or no?

When I looked at it a few months ago it was like three destinations, all Hawaii, all red eyes. Lineholders were the bottom guys.

NEO's will replace the 757 Hawaii flying, and the 757 fleet will switch to domestic, per aapilots

Quote: I think it will be senior for quite a while. It looks like the base size has stabilized. I imagine once the mechanics get their contract they will make it a 737 base, since there's a lot of flying in and out of there. I've been here 5 years and would only be about 70% on the FO list, I'd be about 35% at LAX. The top 162 (of 232) can hold Captain in LAX, so there are a lot of guys not willing to commute to upgrade. PHX does have quite a few retirements coming up, so that will help. 42% of the CAs are 60 or over. 55% of the FOs are 50 or over. I think it will be senior for the next 5-10 years unless they make it a 737 base and increase the base size, then it might go junior on the 737. There are a lot of guys there that swear they'll never fly that plane again.

How does the future movement compare to other bases? 1/2 of the CA’s retiring in 5 years? 1/2 of the FO’s retiring in 10-12 years? Seems pretty good to me less some CA’s coming back from LAX.

I figured this out last year, so this includes 2019 retirements and doesn't include staffing changes that happened last year. I don't remember if I included FO retirements or not.

3/5/7 year retirement percentages
PHL 43/64/81
CLT 33/55/73
DFW 25/44/65
PHX 23/41/59
ORD 22/40/61
LAX 21/39/56

Flew with a CA recently that just got back here to phx after being displaced with the Phx shrinkage. They r still seemingly coming back to phx from lax, but they also aren’t young.

Just flew with a guy in Miami who commutes from PHX. Can't hold it as a CA. Previous am West guy. Crazy how senior that seat is there
