Quote: There isn’t any growth announced that supports that or is there?
Things have been fine with no systemic delays. So either something is coming or 3rd party was a simple cost-benefit decision.
Probably cheaper and easier to farm it out.
Yes probably cheaper and as AMCND(sp) said, saves space. The outsourced labor outsources. Awesome.

It's not big growth that supports it, it's big attrition. SkyWest does want to steadily grow over the next few years (6000 pilots+, up from the current 5,300). SkyWest is also anticipating losing well over 1000+ pilots in the next 12 months. They need their sims for new-hire and upgrade training, which means outsourcing CTP for a while, which will likely cost a little bit more but I doubt they have much of a choice.

We had 80 pilots quit in December, and December is usually a slow month for attrition.

Thats actually right on the math historically. 15% attrition.. number looks high compared to the days when we only had 2000~ pilots on the list. But with 5330+ 70-80 every month is expected..

The CTP was originally outsourced when the FAA began requiring it.

Quote: CPT training is being farmed out starting January. That frees up ruffly 30-40 more NH slots a month.. so I would say 3 month class savings time...??..
The latest email said DFW (like others mentioned) through L3Harris Technologies I believe. I'll also concur with the advancement of class times because I went from ERJ March 2 ATP, 13th Indoc to January (denied it) and then to February.

It's a bit unfortunate since a buddy going through CTP in SLC said they were learning relevant procedures for SKYW; just to get a head start. I'm assuming through L3 that won't be the case so not as advantageous.

So far there’s been no “freeing up”....

Wait-listed since December (April class date) and no call- to date- for any January class. Hired some time ago.

It’s maddening to wake up each day and manage risk as a flight instructor because I’ve chosen to wait for a Skywest class. How long before any regional with an immediate class date trumps any/all reasons for choosing OO?

Am I alone in this thinking?

That may change. They outsourced CPT, just finishing construction on new training rooms in Denver and new sims. New upgrade foot print for ERJ fo - CA.. they should start calling people and moving them up in the next week or 2....

How many hours short of 1500 can you be to get an interview? Do you need only a wet ME or 25 hrs ME before the interview? Lastly (sorry), can you select only CRJ (for basing purposes)?

Same boat also, it gets frustrating at times, I have been on the waitlist since December also for a March class. When you think about it, it's just a matter of being patient, being waitlisted is nice and starting earlier is even better, but either way it's going to happen. So I believe that patience is key!
