What's the average days off for a line holder?
Your seniority will predict how many days off. For February the bottom 79% will have 14 or fewer days off. Average days off is 14.1, but that is skewed by those top lines which a new-hire won't see for, idk, a decade?

At this point, the bottom half of line-holders are working as many days as reserves, in some cases more. This will likely continue for some time as there is no end in sight to the staffing shortage. Even if/when we turn a corner in terms of hiring and retention, we have more airplanes to fly. It's probably going to take some time to get line values down and days off up into a more reasonable zone.

Other bases?
Any word from company if there are plans for additional bases? Is that something that the pilot group thinks could be feasible in the future? Y'all have are strong ULCC modified with cargo, glad you got a strong contract to go with it now.

New bases are extremely unlikely. Virtually everyone in management has signaled a preference for some sort of home basing/deadhead deviation/positive space provision over bases.

I have been told by new-hires that new bases were mentioned in indoc as well as the interview. Not that this is worth much, but I wouldn't go as far as to say "extremely unlikely." But I do agree that any discussion of new bases is just spreading of rumors at this point.

I think that’s a carrot to keep people from leaving right away. I think the current management- at least the ones I’ve interacted with- has no plans for a base anywhere, even though I think it would make sense in some places. How many years has the DFW base been “just around the corner”??? Or Vegas, or somewhere in Florida, or Nashville, or whatever.

I think these mechanisms for commuters is a great idea.

Until they realize they are paying a handful of top of scale pilots 140 hours a month to sit in hotels in LAL and AFW to only fly 5 hours a month

I know it's been said for years but I could see a Dallas "area" base to cover AFW and the focus stuff out of DFW and a Gulf coast "area" base to cover LAL and TPA and RSW blah blah blah...but the uncertainty is there, Seems like I lived in Rockford and Ontario not to long ago

I was told Amazon has always offered to pay a premium to have crews sit “ready reserve”, so it wouldn’t cost the company a thing. It’s always been the work rules governing this (between the company/union) that’s been the hold up. They obviously worked it out with the new sort lines.
