600-750 hrs should get you in the door with plane sense which would be waaaaay more useful to you then pounding the tarmac in a Cherokee.
CFI may be the best route for him. Separation from the mil can take upwards of a year, even for something adverse like a drug test failure. I agree with you that taking the initial check ride incurs a risk but landing a 135 gig might not be possible until he's fully separated.Originally Posted by TiredSoul
