I don’t get how you can give someone $hit for wanting to go to work to provide for themselves and their family... especially at a time when no one knows when the music might stop...they’ve been here longer... they get to decide... how can you be upset that someone senior to you doesn’t want an unpaid month off?? Oh that’s right... you’re worried about YOURSELF... it’s selfish of you to call them out when all you’re doing is looking out for your own a$$...

Selfish? Are you flipin kidding me? The FAPA invest money was from real concessions that we gave up under pressure of going out of business. In 2008-2015 we gave up significant wages,retirement benefits,and vacation pay. So you think I should burn that money to benefit you?

I fully intend to do whatever it takes to protect the people below me when there is a clear plan in place. I absolutely will contribute to protecting those below me, but it is not an entitlement. You seem to think that you can demand those above you to take a month or more off when we are not even sure what we are looking at yet.

Seniority is everything in this industry. You seem to be suggesting that the people who are senior to you, somehow owe you something. That's not how it works.

Let's work on this together as a group and try to find a solution.

You senior jerks fail to realize that far more of your coworkers were affected by that garbaage you agreed to than you realize.

And don't feed me some BS that you saved the airline. You didn't. No airline ever, in the history of the world, has ever gone under from paying their pilots a fair wage.

Do you really think that the first year pay and benefits were much better when many of us arrived here? Take a guess who the people are who tried to make it better for themselves and future pilots?

Sorry man, but expecting senior pilots to take leaves or retire early to save your job is in itself selfish. I fully anticipate to get furloughed. I would never expect that sacrifice from pilots senior to me. It doesn’t matter how much they make or their financial situation.

By the way 27 of the cola got Fapa invest 5 didn’t. Why didn’t more newer guys take it? I mean your giving up less money. You see how dumb this argument is right now.

I still think The newer guys should’ve been cut in a small percentage of our take. To be honest if it wasn’t for them, this airline would not be as big as it is, making as much. Had no one come to work here we’d still be at 40 planes and our Fapa Invest checks would’ve been $420.00. Thank a new guy, but only if they were hired before December 2019.

I think it’s a bit too early to draw the line between pilots, if ever. No one has lost their job or has received notification to expect it. I wasn’t a FAPAinvest recipient, but even if I was I wouldn’t be taking an unpaid COLA right now unless I had other business/family to attend to outside of this job; no different than any other COLA. If they announce any furloughs there will be an opportunity for long term COLAs, hopefully paid at reasonable amount to greatly increase participation. Personally, they need to throw 40hrs or greater at me to get me to walk away for a month. This is based on my general budgeting that my monthly bills/expenses never exceed my 20th of the month paycheck; regardless of how much cash I have in the bank. My mind could be swayed based on the actual number of furloughs proposed, but I won’t lie and say I’m a hard YES or NO because it’s hard to speculate without concrete info. If the company is wise they won’t low ball us, because if they want to be in a position to bounce back and expand in a recessionary period they’ll need to keep to any furloughs to an absolute minimum.

To ask anyone to take an unpaid COLA is to ask them to take a voluntary furlough. That guy at the bottom of the list gets to keep his/her job, pay bills and put money into savings. The unpaid COLA pilot receives no paycheck and is expected to burn through their savings. I don’t expect any senior pilot to pad their savings account while pilots are out on furlough but I do think it’s reasonable that they can pay their bills without diving into their savings.
