I thought it was them crossing a picket fence.

I apologize if this doesn’t belong here but what exactly does ATI look for in terms of being competitive? Do they want 121 time, is 135 time sufficient, etc.?

Quote: Thats the truth, one of my good friends. He made captain before his first recurrent, so upgrade in lieu of recurrent.
And this is one of the reasons why I would say, similar to the Atlas MEC did in their own regard, the place is an accident waiting to happen. Not so much an *if* rather than a *when*.

With that said, I am not demeaning the ATI pilot group as a whole by any means. I know many fine folks over there and they do a good and safe job....but not all. The problem of rapid upgrades can cause issue at almost any airline, most airlines do not upgrade so quickly (except the undesirable ones or regionals...) Of course this is ACMI so that speaks for itself already.

both of the 2019 hires that are now captains had extensive 75/76 time prior to ATI.

One that I know had 15000 PIC Jet....upgraded after 6 mos....a friend of my was flying with him. Lots of ACMI cargo time. Not to many 23 yr olds (other than the CEO's kid) in line for early upgrades. As far as ACMI goes from my experience at 2 pax carriers it's a whole different animal. Non precision approaches without GPS after a 4 hr flight with map shift...pouring rain on an ungrooved rwy reported as dry in a language you dont understand to an airport in the jungle of South America. Of course this is ACMI as you said. Nobody holds your hand like the pax carriers do.
