Comparing DAILY DEATH TOLLS? You are kidding, right? With the exception of India, we have MASSIVELY MORE PEOPLE than the other countries on your graph.

The UK? 68 million
Canada? 38 million
Norway? 5.4 million

why would it come as a surprise to you that we would have more total deaths from this disease than countries with from a fifth to a sixtieth of our population?
Quote: Insurrection isn't "extreme" it is in fact what this country was founded on.
I agree in that context, but let's get through COVID and then we can contemplate some lessons learned. Hopefully our political system can re-learn some flexibility so it doesn't come down to domestic irrigation of the tree of liberty at some point down the road.
India and China are both on that daily deaths chart.

And you BELIEVE the Chinese numbers?
Quote: You're just saying what, that you put trust into a known right wing propaganda site?
Why not just read the article and come up with your own conclusions instead of trashing it because it doesn't fit the mainstream narrative.

It wasn't long ago the conspiracies against the right-wing seemed more plausible ( the neocon adgena, never ending war on terror for oil companies, the 2004 election al gore lost)

Nowadays seems like some of the claims against the left really are turning out to have some merit. We have seen a frightening erosion of civil liberties at breakneck speed that should have any person who considers themselves patriotic to be concerned. Not to mention a media that has become completely biased while pretending it is fair and neutral
Quote: Everyone in the world is going to get this virus. 10 times more contagious than the flu? Everyone wearing masks? Social distancing? That’s great until we all touch the same door, key pad, or gas pump.

The curve has been sufficiently flattened as to not overwhelm the hospitals. We have enough PPE and vents. Those who are most at risk for CV complications have a much better shot at beating this now than ever. Over 99% of infected people recover. Unfortunately, we will continue to lose our most vulnerable. We know who they are and we should protect them and they should protect themselves. But global quality of life is about to find out the hard way what damage this massive overreaction caused.
A voice of reason? No way. Too bad the rest of society doesn't have the same mindset. I was just thinking how in 2-3 years or more we can look at wikipedia and see the big scare Covid 19 wasn't.

Yeah dude.. sure.

Oh, and Tin Foil is in isle 5.

Maybe they are, but for different reasons, you can't believe anything that either of them puts out.

Exactly....COVID 19 = the Flu. Complete lunacy to have essentially shutdown the World over something akin to the Flu. Past time to stop the madness and reopen everything. If you’re at risk then self quarantine....everyone else LIVE LIFE. Lock downs are totally insane knowing the near ZERO risk COVID 19 poses to normal non-high risk people. COVID19 is essentially the Flu.

Sad that many pilots have likely flown their last trips and just don’t realize it yet. The furloughs that result from this are going to disrupt the lives of many many pilots and their families. Livelihoods will be lost and irreparable damage to careers will occur due to the hysteria caused by something that amounts to the Flu. Good luck going forward.
So, I started this saga off with a firm belief that most of us are going to get it, and it's a matter of flattening that curve so our hospital resources aren't overwhelmed. But that most of us will get it and that's inevitable.

Watching data come in from AKL and SYD however, I'm starting to doubt that. South Australia is reporting only seven active COVID-19 cases at this point, and is on track to become COVID free if that keeps up. New Zealand has had less than ten cases a day since mid-April, and also likely on track to get that quashed if they keep their measures in place.

Doesn't sound necessarily impossible to me anymore to say that we can reduce the number of cases that we will have in total significantly. Just that we don't prioritize that as a nation, and consider this acceptable collateral damage, which everyone has their own opinion on. What am I missing here?
