Quote: This is exactly what Scott Kirby has been wanting/trying to do, via scope relief and expansion of the UAX side of the house.
The mantra has always been that he needs more RJs (scope relief) to feed the international operation. We weren't falling for that, and we're certainly not entertaining any new scope relief ideas.

Quote: Yeah. I’m a 1K and try to spend my travel bank on United whenever I can. I had $7,000 to spend to get to CDG on 30 June. Couldn’t get there on UAL. No flights to CDG out of any of the US hubs. Had to buy a ticket on that airline in Dallas.
Thanks for your business and loyalty! Looks like UAL is adding quite a lot of flying in August, so hopefully you won’t need to go to that “other airline”! 😜

We can add flights but the next battle is stopping mid level management from canceling them weeks out. We have been canceling too far in advance and last minute bookings are the new norm. I think their strategy was to book 4 flights to roughly 50% and hope we could cancel two and have the remaining two at 100% but their rebooking engine lost its god damn mind some where in the process. With multiple flights between hubs showing massive, false oversells. Hopefully we can the gerbil back on the wheel.

Yeah, they also fly to Canada. I don’t consider that to true international flying. It’s international light...

Quote: The BIGGEST elephant in the room is international operations. We are were the biggest player and our airline was pretty much centered around this. This is why we may be hurt/ing the worst. When the international operation is allowed to return (players outside United at work here) we will have a better chance to recover. Oh yeah ... and the passengers have to be willing to travel.

Tough times. Hang in there.
You completely discount the 600 cargo flights a month we are running. There isn't a single 787 sitting still. Many trip getting paid at PP.
