Quote: Imagine being such a victim that you actually believe that 2.5 million deaths and a global response was all a coordinated campaign to discredit Trump.
WutFace needs attention on the internet.

Please clap.

Is the polite "golf clap" after the doofus just tapped in for triple bogey adequate?

Quote: Obviously you'd need some serious penalties for unlicensed driving.

It wasn't a serious suggestion, just pointing out that you can significantly reduce risk in daily life with draconian controls on society. But we never really did that before covid, outside of war.
I know it wasn't a serious suggestion. We prob agree more often than not. But I couldn't help but add a serious response. Seems way too many people think in terms of simple laws/rules these days without thinking of second and third order effects.

Somewhere around a 12% increase. Not exactly society-shattering.

Quote: Well said. Of course it was followed by lame responses by the usual hoaxers. One of them did try their hardest though, going back to the good old overplayed card..... Covid deaths are same as people that died from smoking this year or those who tried to ram a wall in their car. It’s just pathetic denial. I just spoke with one guy who basically said he’s still never seen anyone sick, it’s just like any other bad flu season, things are more or less not changed....... There’s not much you can say to that. In order for any of their arguments to work, a person HAS to be ok with 400k,500k,600k+ dead as part of a normal life cycle. At what point would all these deaths not be just part of life? 800k? 1,000,000? Ironically, the lockdowns and restrictions are the only reason why we’re still having a debate on this as it would have been much much worse. Yet the hoaxers are still not satisfied. Like you say though, now it’s too late. Governors will ride it out, eventually things will open up. The hoaxers will say they were right. Of course the majority of us in the real world know what really happened.
Can we ban this Chinese clown? More absolute garbage posts. He got embarrassed again on these forums last week, disappeared for awhile, and is now back to spread absolute crap again.

400,000 people would have died regardless. America is the don't tread on me country. People don't take kindly to the government telling them what to do. Hillary wouldn't have contained the virus any better. Sure, she could have passed a mask mandate but there's no guarantee that would have worked.

California vs Florida is the classic example. California had the most draconian shutdown and even today outdoor dining is shut. What did that make people do? Simple, they just met each other inside other homes. Covid spread like wildfire. CA is an epicenter today in America. Florida? They relied on the common sense approach with things being open. Still, people being people, not all wore masks and hung out. Covid spread. Adjusted on a proportionate basis, both CA and FL ended up being similar in outcomes for Covid.

One thing that many people ignore in America is that not all health issues are genetic. Genes you can't control, but PLENTY of health issues in this country are due to lifestyle choices: lack of exercise and a terrible diet. We are an extremely unhealthy country and all that hurts when it comes to a virus attacking your body.

I'm not going to include your excuse making for the previous administration because it's not worth the quote. I'll just repeat what I said 8 months ago. There was no plan. There was never going to be a plan. And he spent the first 3 months denying COVID existed.

As to your obesity red herring... If I recall, 10 years ago they tried to tackle Obesity too. Healthy food campaigns and sugar taxes.

That's nice. I hope you never have to offer condolences to anyone. "A shame about your mom. She really had that death coming"

My mom died 5 years ago at age 94. I would not quite put it your way, but she lived a long full life. Her death, due to old age and infirmities was not unexpected. She and I knew her death was near, and considering her health, it was a blessing.
