there are too many variables for CASM to say one is better then the other because of how each airline might allocate cost across segments. Yes the Airbus will have lower trip costs, but the 767 will also have a higher revenue potential (more premium seats and cargo). So which one will be more profitable? Time will tell.
Yeah I get it Captain obvious that FLL-BOS-LHR isn’t UAL’s thing. Throw in EWR. The point remains that all airlines are buying planes, where they put them doesnt have to match up exactly with the competition.
Something tells me that for the near term the 321LR is a great plane. JB doesn’t need to hit a home run with it, as long as it makes money they’re good. JB can make money flying 320s around domestically as well.
*If JB really thought flying 767s around was worth it, I think they could find a desert full of them for cheap.
