I disagree. JB does need to hit a homerun with the London flights. To only operate 2 or 3 is incredibly expensive for all the moving parts. Don't think many more routes are planned near term due to covid, thus these need to be HRs or will extremely financially painful.

Homerun implies being one of their most profitable routes....I don't see the need. As long as it's not a failure, and by failing I mean losing money it will be be a thorn in the side of the UALs/AAs/DALs who use these routes as cash cows normally. By making *some* money and disrupting (yeah i know) the market they kill 2 birds with one stone. Those biz class seats will have new competition at a much lower price.

Nobody is going to be hitting a home run in 2021, maybe into 2022.

Completely agree.... either way it’s a good way to dabble our toes in the ETOPS pool.......once certified and proficient nothing stops us from heading to Hawaii, São Paulo, Dakar or (God forbid) Lagos! (and you guys thought SDQ was bad, ha!).... you’ll love Lagos, I wonder if Bluewatch or API will be responsible for the armed escort to the hotel!!??

8 years ago at FlightSafety I trained some be1900 crews that were based in Lagos. We had to do NDB approaches in the sim. Not FMS hybrid NDB approaches, old school when the intercept angle equals the deflection approaches. They work as long as you flew them before the daily power outages occurred in Lagos. I asked if the power ever quit during the approach. Yes. What did you do? We just descended to minimums through the clouds, without navigational guidance. Have you taken our CFIT course yet? How about CRM this Tuesday?

BUT the point is that once the JBs transatlantic operation matures it makes it easier and more likely for JB to expand into other regions (SL has alluded to the 1st 3 destinations I mentioned in past pocket sessions). If you’d like to continue quibbling about LOS or the commercial viability of tech stops you are missing the point.
Pretty clear that is the crux of what I posted.
