We don’t have junior assignments. We have junior available, which you can 100% refuse by saying “unavailable” and there isn’t a thing the company can do about it.

Exactly.
So when I hear them saying that “junior assisgnments” will be mandatory and refusal could lead to termination, it’s laughable. It shows how desperate things are; trying to intimidate the new FOs into extra work.

Where did you hear them even say this??

Don’t answer the phone. Acars isn’t a legal way to notify for schedule changes

I have a trip starting tomorrow that they just added two legs onto. I’m going to answer my phone when they call and say I’ll do it for 400 percent. Otherwise not available.

where did they add the 2 legs? If it’s within your pairing footprint they can do that and at straight pay.

yup, outside of footprint for a line holder = junior “assignment”

Once again inept management is relying on the pilot group to bail them out of their horrendous decision making. Don’t do it. If heads have to roll in management because of this complete and utter failure so be it.

For the new hire’s reading this.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ACCEPT A JUNIOR ASSIGNMENT.
YOU ARE 100% ABLE TO REFUSE IT BY SAYING “UNAVAILABLE
THE UNION HAS MADE THIS A SETTLED MATTER.
EVEN IF THEY THREATEN YOU THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT THIS.
AND IF YOU ARE A LINE HOLDER YOU HAVE NO OBLIGATION TO ANSWER THE PHONE.

This is straight from the Union a few years ago.

The Company recently elected to mark pilots who refuse a JA assignment as "unavailable for work" (UFW). The Company can use any code they like;your right to determine your availability is protected. We believe the Company is attempting to use this as a scare tactic to get pilots to accept these assignments to make up for a complete lack of foresight in hiring and retaining enough crewmembers to cover the flying they've accepted from our partners.”
