Quote: Turns are disappearing - which MSP locals will dislike... But are commuters indifferent? One would think less day turns would be better for commuters, but maybe with line bidding, everyone got what they wanted?

Do lines that include Prime flying go junior?

If/when PBS arrives, do you think it will be possible to pick/exclude one type of flying or the other based on preference?

For a 6 day cargo trip, what do those block? Is the pay about even with block or is it better due to trip rig or duty rig?

Also, after 6 days is it just a minimum 1 day off before the next assignment?

The Prime flying, just looking at Flightaware and taking an educated guess, seems to be turns @ AFW and LAL with some of the outstations being:

PDX

ORD

TOL

PIT

BDL

JFK

RIC

CLT

How does the Prime schedule compare to the pax business? Is it better for commuters? or worse?

How would being on reserve relate to the Prime flying vs reserve @ MSP?

Trying to build a better mental image of Sun Country and if it would be a good fit for me.

Thanks in advance
Lately they've sprinkled Amazon flying into most lines. Some pax, some cargo. So junior or senior, there are lines that are mixed, with the exception of the really senior lines, which have mostly pax day turn trips.

Amazon flying used to be great for commuters, with offline deadheads on many of the front and backs, but nowadays I usually start with a pax flight out to an Amazon hub, then fly a few freighter flights, with a pax flight home. I think the 1 day off after 6 is only because of FAA rest rules, not a contractual set of days after X days on the road.

It used to be better when first day and last day was a Deadhead. Now they got smart and it’s operate pax somewhere and ground dh if it’s a close airport and fly 4 days of cargo and pax operate on last day back to msp.

24 hrs off in base every 7 calendar days

It’s not 24 off in base. It’s 24 off somewhere. You could have a 32 hour layover in Toledo and start another long trip right after with no days off. This has been known to happen with month to month carryover trips.

Then why did the company kill the nine day trips? Union enforced 24 hrs off means off not a layover. which can only happen in base.

Uhhh… this isn’t really an argument. How do you think they were able to build the 9 day trips in the first place? Read your contract.

“A pilot must receive at least one calendar day off in any seven (7) consecutive calendar days.” - 12.B.2.b

It says nothing about “in base.” Trust me, I’ve been burned on it more than once.

you need 30 off in 168. It’s a 117 rule. The contract only says you need 12 off in domicile. As long as you get your 30 in 7 you could in theory be kept on a 16 day trip that is rigged at 95 hours 4.2/1 rig, (industry worst). As long as you have 12 days off in MSP.

If it don’t say off on AIMS it’s not a day off I have fought and won that.

You're being too generous. They could keep you on for 16 days and pay you even less by building back to back trips that start and end around mid-day. That way you can have, for example, a three day trip worth 48 hours of trip rig, or worse. So it is probably possible to do what you described and earn 70 hours.

Any chance this will impact contract negotiations?
