There’s a huge error in your thinking. X mitigation does not equal 1,000,000 lives lost while 100x equals 1,000 lives lost. It isn’t that simple, which goes to the silly argument that some models, with rather questionable assumptions, predicted 2,000,000 dead, so we saved 1,500,000. The model wasn’t possibly that accurate, very small changes in assumptions lead to wide variances in death totals. Models are not science, they’re models.
This was never going to be society killing disease like the plague in the 13th century. Then, Europe lost about 50% of the population, we GREW our population in this pandemic all the while greatly reducing health expenditures because no one was going for elective care. Loss of health care expenditures equaled half of the lost GDP in 2Q2020.
