Quote: Bring back the Narita Hilton. 1:20 van ride one way is insane.
ANA is a way better hotel/location for the day long layovers... and it’s proximity to Haneda airport a plus now that half flights going in there.

Quote: Being a Denver guy I try to bid trips I think instructors will like. Sometimes I will have enough instructors buy enough trips, then I will pick up on top of those and break 100 without working extra days. Pre pandemic of course.

... I’m not a Denver guy. (So this secret won’t affect you). What kind of trips do instructors like?

I just bid wide body waiting for class so won’t effect me either. I can’t tell if your being sarcastic or not but I’ll tell you anyway. Day turns are the best, then a two day where it leaves late, then the next leg the next day goes back to Denver. Usually you’ll have to do a turn after that because there aren’t many 2 days where it’s just an out and back. Sometimes the next turn gets picked up too though. Same logic applies for 3 day trips but not too many guys pick up 3 days so it more rare.

Happy with 4-C-2-d. 12 hours or less, sure- get me a bed & maybe something to eat nearby. By 14 hours, I’m ready to give up a little time in transit to spend my layover somewhere more interesting than across the street from the EWR parking lot.

I agree completely.

Thanks,
I was asking (no sarcasm intended).

Apparently enough pilots feel differently which is why we have exception cities like IAD and EWR. I haven't talked to one pilot who would rather drive and hour in rush hour to DC than stay in Reston for 14 hours. Plenty of things to do and great places to eat there. Great job to our hotel committee for letting common sense prevail instead of shooting ourselves in the foot for the sake of it.

I find this true in any seat, any base if you advertise a lot.
