Quote: It’s pretty terrifying that someone with so little industry experience in both longevity and flight hours can act as PIC of an airplane filled with passengers
hey - it is FAA compliant

Quote: SO why does Republic need to offer up 200% open time to entice pilots to pick up the trips?
because their union negotiated it, same reason Delta offers 200% open time not 150%

Quote: Does Republic have trip Cancellation pay, or is it like an FO once told me that one reason he left Republic for Skywest was because of not getting paid if the flight cancelled?
100% CXL pay. Has been that way since their contract in 2015

Quote: What is Republics minimum daily guarantee?
4.2/ day like skywest but unlike skywest it applies to reserves as well. Same with their trip and duty rigs (same rigs as OO, they just apply to everyone)

Quote: The ready reserve fiasco may be the straw that breaks the union resistance at Skywest, but for now and as long as I've been in the industry the only time Skywest had a problem attracting job seekers was when our last pay package passed. They just jacked up new hire pay, with the ability to go up another $5 per hour for FOs without giving the captains anything. Wasn't a wave of attrition, but maybe a small number of more expensive captains got a fire lit under their arses and they finally moved on. That actually is what Chip wants, cause he can replace a $130 per hour captain with a $75 captain and save money in the long run.
When I was still at OO I had a conversation about this with my friends who went to RAH. Also at some point around early 2018 one of skywest’s pilots made a excel document with a contract comparison RAH vs OO and put it on the FB page. They blew us out of the water on soft pay type stuff. If you are able to find that I think it would be eye opening.

So we’re short on captains. 30ish reserve captains available the other day systemwide. I looked at standing bids in my domicile and just 15% (or so) of FOs have upgrade bids in. Maybe that number means nothing as it’s ever changing. Or. Maybe it means something?
I’m an FO not eager to survive OO reserve rules again.

At that low percentage they’ll burn thru eligible FOs quickly and hit the Covid 1y hiring freeze for eligible upgrades.

Changing dynamic? Or is this just more of the same.

The intentional understaffing is holding me back from upgrade. 3 year FO, but seeing the abuse reserves take, especially the captains is not worth it if you have a family. Or, worth it because you have a family and need the money but must give up family time.

A while back TG sent out an email literally begging people to upgrade. Interesting times - again.

There are more than enough reserves next month. Will see what October brings

Were there not just about 150 upgrades awarded for September?? Probably will be the same for October. Give them some time to get through training....

Same as with June. And July. And August. Attrition is accelerating.

Just wondering what pilots think will happen when they run out of upgraders. Force real change? I came on property with the 1000 tpic. I’ve seen and lived through enough to stay happy flying Jerry’s airplanes from the right seat for now.

But I’ve not been on property long enough to know trends.

You're out of your mind. Upgrade, get your PIC time, and get out.
