I was pretty sold on the 77 but got talked out of it in interview only because they said 77 tended to be more locked into. Couple cities in China, we’re as the 74 was a lot more dynamic flying with a little bit more time off, just feedback I got from 76 CP.

I was a 747FO, now a 767 CA. The 747 does go to more places. Time off has usually been worse since there are many more schedule changes, etc. Also the junior base on the 747 is ANC. ANC is a nice place, but there are fewer ways to get to and from base up there. That means extra X days lost commuting. All of our 777 bases are in the continental US. New and exotic lands are only new and exotic for the first few times you visit. After that your experience is really dependent on your own curiosity, etc.

I enjoyed the 747 while I was on it. Whatever plane someone chooses, they can have good time.

I was wondering if any new info came out about the 76 TPA base. I start in April and I know if will go senior but what are the chances of getting something like out of base reserve or picking up some TPA overnights

Most junior TPA FO was hired in January of 2019. The guy right above him was hired in August of 2018.
There have still been some TPA reserve lines pop up in the CVG base (at least on the CA side), but they do tend to go senior. I think there are still some CVG lines that would give you a TPA overnight or two.

Thanks. Are the 60 day lines still a thing on the 76? I see them in the earlier post for the other types and if there are is the length the same I.e. 5-9 days on 5-9 days off?

plenty of 60 day lines. Too many some would say.

Quote: Pros: great plane, good money, tons of opportunities for open time (if you want to live on the road for whatever reason), predictable schedules, generally chill peopleCons: you get a PF leg once a month (maybe 2 if you're lucky), very hard on your body, fitness, and sleep quality. No variety in the current system...you will see the same few places over and over. Schedule: 30 or 60-day bid lines just like the other fleets. If you get a 30-day line (they tend to go senior) you will go out for 18 days on average (gateway to base on your last day off, then fly a 17-day pattern and probably be able to catch a flight home the same day that you finish the pattern). 60-day lines have you go out for a few trips anywhere from 5-10 days in length (5 is rare) with 5-9 days off between trips. More time commuting, but back in your own bed with more frequency. Flying: almost all international long-haul flights with a crew of 4. Like the 747 it is hard on your body, especially the 20-ish hour days with a 2-leg stopover in Hong Kong to reload the plane. Right now we mostly fly for DHL, and have 4 more airframes being delivered over the next two years. Will we get more variety in the system via new contracts and routes? Passenger charters one day? Who knows...but I think we will have 777's at Atlas for quite awhile. Overnights: we see tons and tons of Incheon and Narita, some Leipzig, a dash of Sao Paulo, some Miami, Anchorage, LAX, and Cincinnati. The hotels are generally good. Incheon is currently going through another round of lockdown-esque rules, but otherwise there is some fun to be had most everywhere we go. Overall it's an easy job. My QOL is way better than at the regionals, but it's not bidding long-call reserve in base at a PAX carrier either.
I appreciate all the info, very clear. There is no "best" aircraft. It is up to each one's objectives and preferences. Thanks for adding more about the 777 , It definitely made easier to compare with the others.

The 747 has the best bunks. That makes it the best airplane.

Excellent, good assessment as it’s up to each of your priorities how to meet them. Newerjguy definitely brought out the data and I learned a few more things myself. Well done. Thx from mwa as well.
