I haven't been inside an airplane since May 2019 when I came home from Europe after a Transatlantic cruise, so it's shocking to continuously read about crazy people attacking crew and other passengers.

I imagine you'd be less surprised if you had been flying more recently than that. Economy flying is already a miserable, tense experience; add in continuous hounding about mask usage when a large part of the US population doesn't think they do anything, and tempers are bound to flare. I'm honestly not surprised in the least.

I hope this pax gets prison time.

Get rid of the masks. The majority of the problems are caused by them.

This in no way excuses physical assault against a FA, but I did hear from SWA FAs who spoke to the others that were working with the one in this incident, and apparently they weren’t that surprised that this happened to her as she was being a complete mask nazi and ****ing pax off.

The majority of the problems are caused by unstable people looking for an excuse for their terrible behavior. If it wasn’t masks it would be carry on bags or the wrong brand of gin.

Why the hell isn't the AFA lobbying congress for 3 year mandatory prison sentences for anyone who physically assaults a crew member?? I'm sorry, but even heavy fines don't work.

Yes, the only change to anyone’s personal lives since the beginning of 2020 were mask nazis on airplanes 🙄.

People are overall stressed/entitled/emboldened right now. The country is on edge. There’s a reason car accidents and road rage are up too, and I doubt it’s because a flight attendant asked them to put on a mask. If you’re unstable enough to punch a FA over a mask, you’re unstable enough to rear-end someone for cutting you off or punch a gate agent for making you pay for a checked bag. There’s no excuse for this stuff. It’s a reasonable request and they knew the rules when they bought a ticket.
