Absolutely not.

I’ve been here for a while (15 years). It’s not a place to hang your hat. This TA shows that. Give it 6 months to a year and this place will be back to #4 or #5.

Hope for a merger.

Probably a subjective call, but personally I feel the best about this place today as I have since the VX merger. The TA is a giant leap forward, worst to first for NB.

Do you not realize how odd it is to read over and over both:

A. “I’ve been here 15 yrs. It’s always sucked. It’s always gonna suck. I’ve wasted 15 yrs of career.”

AND

B. I’m smarter than all you yes voters. YOU are the problem. You are not only the reason my career has sucked for the last 15 years, but you’ll be the reason it sucks for the next 15.

Honestly dude, if I felt the way you do, that I had pi$$ed away 15 yrs of my life at a job I hated, I believe I’d spend more time lookin in the mirror and less pointing fingers.

You stayin 15 yrs, that’s on nobody but you brother.

You’re right. It’s my fault for expecting better from this place. Thanks for the pep talk man.

I think the new contract will go along way retaining and bringing on new talent, especially to anyone wanting to live in the PNW or on the west coast. Since the announcement 4 people have reached out to me personally for help getting on here.

I find it hilarious that the people who say Alaska isn't a career destination airline, all give their YOS and have been here a long time, and will retire here. Sounds like it was a career airline before the TA for thousands of pilots...

I think it’s a good deal for those of us with 4+ years here. I think we’ll like working with those work rules. I beat the work rules drum very hard and I think the NC delivered.

I disagree that it’s a good contract for retaining or attracting new hires. I don’t think there’s enough there for them to choose Alaska over anyone else on the west coast.
But I’m not a recruiter nor was I blessed to be young in a hiring environment like we have now.

Alaska is a destination airline just like Minot,ND is a place that one can decide to live out the remainder of his/her life. I’m getting close to retirement and this dysfunctional airline is it for me. When I was a young buck many many moons ago, an old crusty captain once warned me to never trust this management and he was absolutely right on. For anyone under 50, it would behoove you to seek employment at the big 3, FedEx and UPS. No job is perfect but one can have a significantly better career at these airlines. Do you want to work at 7-Eleven or Costco? This TA will pass and the mindset of this management will never change. In the next year, Alaska will be back to being a solid mediocre airline to work with an ever increasing number of grievances.
