Who is going to vote for it unless they want it no matter how many word games APA plays with the questions? You can safely assume if somebody voted yes, they are for the merger.

53% of the pilot group responding to a single (maybe two) email asking them to fill out an online survey is a HUGE turnout. Ask all these research companies what it means when over half of the people respond to an unsolicited survey request. Now APA is trying to spin that to the fact they have overwhelming support??? lol, GTFO

Most pilots you fly with talk about wanting to join ALPA? That is not my experience at all. Yes people complain about the pace of negotiations. Yes people complain about APA (you think ALPA pilots don’t complain about ALPA?). But what I am yet to hear is someone come out and say we need ALPA! That’s the solutions! Sorry nope. I don’t want to double my dues for a tumi TA.

I voted YES and do not necessarily want a merger. I come from an ALPA carrier so I don't think it's the solution to everything. I like making informed decisions though, so that's why I'm in favor of the board exploring the possibility. Doesn't mean I'd vote YES to a merger with ALPA.

Maybe you’re not hearing the guys you’re flying with, or maybe you’re an FO flying with disgruntled old USAir guys. Who knows? But when the conversation comes up on my flights, and ALPA is brought up, literally 100% of the pilots I’ve flown with agree: our union is a lost cause, and for all of its faults, ALPA is still the way to go.

I’ve been an ALPA member, and I’ve been an APA member for more than ten years too. APA, as a union, with the bylaws and structure it has, is terminally flawed, and has been for as long as it has existed - since 1963. Time to bring us back to where we started - ALPA.

Actually, the 17th amendment makes the senate more like your BOD president, in that they are popularly elected. Before that each state legislature would elect their senators, making it a more valid comparison on how ALPA elects their MEC chairman.

As for the judicial system, ALPA has that in its governance. The ALPA constitution gives the power of interpreting it to the executive council, which is made up of pilots that are elected by each MEC. And for smaller pilot groups, they are grouped into four separate groups and each group collective elect their member. There are currently 11 members.

If an interpretation by the executive council is not favorable to the masses, the board of directors, made up of all representatives from all airline pilot groups. can amend it.

Curious, are your dues less than 1%? I thought your current dues are 1.5%? Current ALPA dues are 1.85%. Before COVID they were going to lower it to 1.8%. With a merger, APA can make the dues rate a condition to agreeing to it.
