Van Driver Tips?

I recently went on a couple different hotel van rides.

Separate rides which happened to be with different ENDV crews.

Not a soul (other than myself) tipped the van driver for handling their bags. No one else-on either van ride…

Is this common? Is non-tipping of someone who just huffed a few hundred Lbs of bags for folks really a thing?

I am left to question whether my observation was an anomaly, or do there exist any kind of meaningful percentage of non-tippers at ENDV?

What gives? How much money do people need to make before they show appreciation for the efforts of others?

I saw it frequently enough at 9E.

I'd say about 10% of the captains didn't tip there. Not that it's an excuse, but for the most part, I chalked it up to lost decade bitterness. A lot of those same pilots tended to fly with a chip on their shoulder.

The few junior guys who didn't tip tended to be weirdos from the 2015/2016 hiring binge, when 9E really did hire anyone and everyone.

I’m a lost decade guy myself.

My regional career was pretty rough.

But I always tipped.

Everyone I flew with always tipped. Even when we were making pretty much nothing. I mean, humping several hundred bags into and out of a van each day is kind of physical work. Throw the guy/gal a little bone or two.

Maybe my experience was an outlier, but it was notable to me. FWIIW, the non-tippers were pretty young looking.

Ive been flying for airlines for a while, and the only other time I have ever seen non tippers was a SKYW crew-but we know those folks have all kinds of issues

I mean I don’t think it’s relegated to Endeavor. I have been a pilot for 30 years at the same airline plus another 4 years as a FA at TWA in the 80’s and there were always Non tippers . Wether it was TWA, Eastern, USAir, Continental, Air CAL, Western, Delta , Piedmont , etc. that I shared a van with there were always non tippers . I see plenty of tippers at Endeavor. There are also plenty of Delta pilots with chips on their shoulders. Wether it’s younger pilots or the senior dogs at Delta that got stiffed in the merger (mergers) or been married and divorced 5 times or are always complaining about something .

2017/18 was the worst, a lot of weird ASA guys “that’s how we did it at expressjet”.

Just me personally, but I'll tip based on service (like in many other industries where tipping is common). Did they handle my bags? Were they on time? If yes, than I'll tip. If no, then I'm less likely to.
Maybe, I'm one of those "Weirdos" from the 2016 hiring boom, but that's just how I was taught to tip.

* also, sometimes I don't tip because I got lazy and I forgot to go the ATM before the trip so I have no $1s on me.*

I’d say it’s probably an anomaly. At my carrier most people tip, even the FA’s.

Are your FAs as poor as 9e ones?

I think more and more people of the new gens just don’t carry cash, it’s not an excuse for not tipping though.

Lol I honestly have no idea, idk how much FA’s make honestly, but I heard it’s pretty darn low.
