Quote: What has CEO pay done post 911.... I think it is up around 400%!
We all agree on that, but don't think for a minute that ANYONE I've spoken to at Skybus is here for $65K/yr indefinitely, the company has to turn a profit before any of that changes though. This is just how capitalism works....

Quote: skybus faces the same challenges as everyone else. i think when you see people bashing soley on pay and lowering the bar that it is hogwash.

They are lowering the bar..... If everyone is at Market based wages then>>> Sky Bus and VA are lowering the bar!!!! Duh!

It is not really bashing when it is true!

I will not argue that their wages are low. But Sky Bus did not create the !hit pool the aviation industry workers are swimming in. The existing industry workers before Skybus even came on the scene created this by taking concessions and no solidarity.

i know they didn't create the pool you're talking about. i don't even think their pay is relevent. which is why i said they face the same challenges. in one year if they haven't hit numbers the board will have rework their whole strategy. the investors will demand it and the board will demand it of the ceo and coo. watch and see. my other premise is they'll be forced to raise pay to attract pilots if they do hit their numbers. everybody else is hiring and some, not all still consider them as a plague. not true, but perception is everyhting.

Anyone willing to be a A319 captain for $65k/yr is going to be blackballed. I've talked to Alaska, Frontier and other airline captains and they agree. If we're on the interview panel they're not getting hired. Have some respect for yourself.

It’s easy to be so pious when sitting on the interviewing side of the table and are gainfully employed. Good thing you and the other captains you spoke with aren’t on the decision board. Be greatful for what you have and wish the best for those who are looking for work.

Happy flying.

What jobs are you going to go to? This attitude gets me more than anything. JetBlue and the other LCCs started it years ago. Pay low wages on the assumption "you're getting in on something revolutionary". Pilots flock there on the bet that the "large" aircraft experience they get will better help them get a job with a major. Problem is, the stopover in your career becomes a destination. The high pay at the majors has to continue to come down to compete with the new low threshold. The high paying jobs you hope you will go to are or have disappeared because of this.

The only way to maintain or resurrect the high paying jobs is to not accept any job that will cheapen you, your skills or the pilot profession. If you think that your skills are valued, don't accept a job that doesn't reward you. And save me the talk about how its easy for me to say this because I'm employed. I was furloughed previously and would not take a job that paid less than what I made at DAL. It took several months but I found it.

We must fight for the restoration of our wages for the entire industry! The bar must be raised so don't work at a place that cheapens you or the industry.

Clap, Clap, Clap... aren't you the industry hero. Remember you gave concessions and it wasn't because of low cost carriers. But it is convienient to blame other carriers instead of looking in the mirror. It is we as voters of this country that have caused this attack on worker salaries nation wide not just this industry. It is who we as a country have voted into office that elects the judges and the labor/management arbitraitors that caused labor workforces to lose leverage with the CBAs (Ability to Strike=PAY/BENEFITS). But while we fight, bicker back and forth on this forum with and deny jumpseats to guys try to get home to see their families, call them names and put down their airline...management/politicians laugh and get richer because we as laborers (country) are not looking at the real problem-who we put in governmental office that allows all of this.

You think that SkyBus pilots are guys taking jobs just to get hired by another major? How arrogant. A lot of the guys are furloughed from other carriers and some guys just want to be part of something from the start instead of sitting at the bottom of some seniority list on reserve for ___ years...only to be furloughed again or not to see the family for 7-10 days. Some guys don't know how to do anything else that makes the same money. Some guys were not lucky enough to have a friend or a "grand father" to get themselves hired at the glorified majors.

I agree with you on we need to stop the downward spiral, but we need to focus our attention where it is needed. Fighting each other is not it.

Thats really good. Now that you made that of public record on this forum you might be delighted to know is that what you stated is descrimination and against the law. Not to mention UN-American.

You sound like a real nice human being .
