Good for him. You just don't hear this kind of story all the time.

Some times it pays to be in the right place at the right time. A couple years from now, if he keeps his nose clean, he will be in a great position. Maybe push to be a Check Airman and Instructor and he will have all the boxes checked to go just about any where he wants.

The Airlines have been a horror story for a huge percentage of us...this guy is sitting in a pretty good spot.

Quote: Direct Air is a virtual airline. They contract out all the flying. Unless something changed, Sky King just provides some of their lift.
You're right Swift bought direct air.

Did that deal go through? I heard they were interested. I liked doing the Direct Air stuff when we had it. Those guys can fill a plane with pax every flight! Too bad they don't pay the contracted airlines enough to make it worthwhile. (Which I guess is why they wind up with Sky King, USA Jet, etc..)

Quote: the pax will be back. where else can they get a flight for $50. all people care about is price then they complain that they got a bad deal. Who knows about pressurization some people will feel faint and pass out from walking up stairs. I doubt they were above a 14k cabin to trip the masks. Heard that direct air got bought by sky king?
I thought it was odd that the FA's did not help out with O2 and the pilots did not drop the masks, if not the first time, then the 2nd time. But, it's a news report, so I don't know the whole story.
I love the "Not my airplane, not my problem" response from DA, LOL!
And Sky King just did not respond.

I know Worcester, MA airport is not happy with the Sky King service. I know some agents there that I still talk to, and they have nothing good to say.

Yep the stories are true. He's top notch and I believe he will be a great captain.

And, he's already a ground instructor on the 737 with SkyKing, so he should be sitting realllllll pretty in a few years

just the typical guy who knows a guy at swift said it was true. I haven't heard directly myself, but I have heard the same thing from 3 different people one each at the airlines affected. Skyking, xtra, swift. I guess we will all know soon. Swift is hiring pilots. Sorry no news source that I know of.

It's not that rare. Military pilots have just as much--if not more--responsibility at that age, and have for decades.

Sure, cruising around by yourself or with a crew of three is just the same as 150 men, women, and children relying on you.
