Quote: I can't believe that no one jumped on the fact that the original posting was so far off from the truth....did you happen to pick up some little clip from Fox News?

He did not call for the workers to accept lower wages, he applauded the willingness of people to throw aside greed to help their fellow worker. He never said that he was calling for more of this. It was one of many examples of coming together.

I just love how easy it is to throw around the word socialism to make people coming together sound like a bad thing. Those firefighters at the WTC sure were socialists. How dare they help their fellow americans!

Amen. Let's Roll.

MaydayMark cleared it up on the second post. He brought the quote directly from the speech. Mario must have heard it differently.

By the way, since you brought it up, I watched FOX and he didn't get it from there and I've had it on all day. Fox News has been quite complementary of our new President on this historical occasion.

Great day for America, regardless of whom you voted for.
Quote: I finally get to be proud of my President and even prouder of my country! He makes me hopeful of the future and I'm ready to do my part! Yes we can!
Delightful!!! BTW, the easter bunny should arrive at your house and give you a few billion bailout dollars shortly! Go stand by the door and wait now; yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clause!

Yes, Obama is now my President, and I will treat him with the utmost respect. But Americans by and large have no historical perspective to understand that every platitude and idea he has advanced during his campaign has been tried before. It results in suffering and oppression. That Americans increasingly are willing to eat and live off of the sweat of the brows of others is a sad state of affairs.

As the President of the Republlic of Georgia (Former USSR) recently stated on the Glenn Beck show, (this is a paraphrase) "You are running toward what we are trying to escape. You don't want to go there. It is very hard to dig out of this kind of mess once you get there!"

Do you mean to say that we haven't been suffering already? Because whatever track we have been going down is the track we need to jump off of. (The light you see at the end of a tunnel is an oncoming train, in the form of furloughs, paycuts, bankruptcies, and liquidations.)

The pendulum of history swings both ways and I think you will find that this new President is a student of both sides.

Let's just wait and see before we press the panic button....

New K Now
Even in the instant of death we cannot permit any deviation. In the old days the heretic walked to the stake still a heretic, proclaiming his heresy, exulting in it. Even the victim of the Russian purges could carry rebellion locked up in his skull as he walked down the passage waiting for the bullet. But we make the brain perfect before we blow it out. The command of the old despotisms was "Thou shalt not". The command of the totalitarians was "Thou shalt". Our command is "Thou art". No one whom we bring to this place ever stands out against us. Everyone is washed clean. Even those three miserable traitors in whose innocence you once believed -- Jones, Aaronson, and Rutherford -- in the end we broke them down. I took part in their interrogation myself. I saw them gradually worn down, whimpering, grovelling, weeping -- and in the end it was not with pain or fear, only with penitence. By the time we had finished with them they were only the shells of men. There was nothing left in them except sorrow for what they had done, and love of Big Brother. It was touching to see how they loved him. They begged to be shot quickly, so that they could die while their minds were still clean.' [George Orwell, 1984 Part Three, 2]

Did you just say that the new President swings both ways?

not that there's anything wrong with that

"Outstanding, Red Team! Outstanding! Get you a case of beer for that one."

Please don't fool yourself that we have suddenly changed directions. We have been headed in the same direction for the last eight years that we will be headed tomorrow. We have simply shifted from 1st to 3rd gear. You can say alot about W but what you can't say is he put a restraint on the growth of government. He spent like a drunken Kennedy.
I've never posted in a thread that was closed by a moderator before and I have a feeling that this maybe my chance.

What a historic day and I'm looking to what lies ahead with great hope and anticipation. May God bless us all.
