Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I believe I heard some people discussing on one of the news networks that the new prez is surrounding himself with folks who are "card carrying" members of an underground "socialist party" here in the the US. I also heard them saying that there were some socialist party websites that were in the process, or had already taken down, their websites. Other websites that remain had merely gone in and "removed" certain names.

Scary times.... <sigh>

It is the kindness of the pilot who flies the disputed pairings so that his fellow pilots won't be tempted. The selflishness of the non-member who banks his WB Capt pay while the 727 S/O pays his way. The thoughtfullness of the over 65 NQD (not quite deceased) who is checking out in the back of the 727 so that the junior S/Os can get furloughed and spend more time with their family. Finally, the charity of the (over 60/over 30 yr,) new WB Capt who, dispite the many hardships, will still tip $1 to the van driver and in doing so, we all know he is giving up a substantial portion of his 72CH carryover. These are the friends we can count on in our darkest hours. Can we thank them? YES WE CAN!! Brings a tear to my eye.

Flygirl007,

Since you asked.

Regarding the second part of your post, I had to dig for this but I remember a little about it from last week.

"When (then) president-elect Barack Obama appointed Carol Browner to be his "energy czar" back in December, the conservative blogosphere was buzzing about her being a member of Socialist International, "the worldwide organization of social democratic, socialist and labor parties." At the time, she was fourth on the website's list of members in the "Commission for a Sustainable World Society."

Her name was removed after the story broke.

In regards to the first part of your post, I give the gentleman a little more credit than that, even though he wasn't my choice. That said, I suspect that he has some socialist views but on the other hand he does possess a certain amount of wisdom and I trust that he will do what is right for the country.

I keep thinking though back to a scene from "The Right Stuff" when the original Mercury 7 Astronauts were presented to the media. The comment was made (and I am doing this from memory) "These guys are being made out to be the finest that America can produce and all they have done is show up for a Press Conference".

He's got an incredible amount of expectations that have been placed on him. Quite a burden to bear. Good Luck Mr. President.

JJ, (the lefty from the right coast) if he read the Webster's dictionary you'd be gushing like Chris ("every time I hear him talk, my knees get weak") Matthews. Good on you for your charitable work. Do you teach the kids any fighter pilots songs? Perhaps "The Balls of O'Leary" or "I love My Wife", would get the whole school rockin'? "Adeline Schmidt" was always my favorite and there's a spot for a chorus. Just trying to help.

Did Obama say anything about using TARP money to get flight envelopes to UPS?

I hope so.

Actually, next bid period we will no longer be able to take the release to the plane. It will be available to view and memorize on a computer in the ASC. UPS is going total "green" in bid 09-03.
