Quote: That is pretty much what I heard as well. It will suck when some ex inflight manager calls you to find out why you were one minute late for whatever. If memory serves me right, they were a real pain with the FA's whever there was a delay.
I wouldn't worry about it. ACARS a delay reason and that will be good enough. It's not your fault they hire people that can't read.

Quote: On a different forum I read, "looks like the company is going ahead with leaves of absence now. Some CAs have already applied for and been approved for up to 6 months."

Any more details, such as how many LOAs are being offered to Pinnacle CAs?
no one has any idea how many are offered. here is the thing though. ever since they have sweetend the deal people are jumping all over it. now you can take an loa, keep your flight benefits (up to 60 days), keep your medical benefits indefinantly, etc etc. all you have to do is pay the 150 a month for a family, or like 20 bucks a month for singles and you can stay gone for up to 6 months. Someone posted a thread on our forum about it and in the same day people have said they have been approved and will be gone for 6 months, others 2, others 4... i dont think the company will have a hard time finding people who want to take a nice break from this place.

Mostly former schedulers in MEM ops...but it helps when you have scheduling issues because they know their scheduling stuff and legalities inside out...

I honestly think it would work best having the base manager be the former flight ops person, and the assistant base manager being the former inflight person...no offense to FAs, but one would think the issues involved with boarding an aircraft and serving beverages would be much less complicated and involved than the intricacies of maintenance/dispatch/load control/FAA regs/and other issues that come into play on the flight ops side...

I've seen flight ops base managers in all bases assist pilots with extremely complicated scheduling issues that I won't even attempt to comprehend (things like repo flights, extensions, junior assignments, ferry flights, airport reserve, and duty times can get insanely complex)...

I wouldn't wanna be the duty daddy if inflight takes over

This LOA is Bull, I tried to take it and was turned down due to staffing numbers. But we are still sending Capt's to YUL for right seat training and guys that need the time away from this place are being turned down.... Any word on how the NMB, PNCL and ALPA are butting heads? Are we as close as we were to a TA as in December or great steps have been taken.... Any one with inside knowledge!!!

Aren't the staffing levels going to be okay now that the projected marketing hours for Feb and Mar are lower than this winter?

Also, if they were understaffed on FO's, the displacements of CA's effective March would probably offset that right? Unless they are short on CA's as well.

The union put out an email saying that no progress has been made as of the 26th/27th. They are negotiating until the end of the week and are are still hopeful.

Doesn't look good. Don't know which smiley best sums up my mood so here are both

With less than half the office staff at each base when they get done with this move, there won't be enough people to handle the work (talk about stuff falling between the cracks)....

This may look like a good "cost saving action" on paper (most likely pushed through by one certain VP on Nonconnah), but will likely turn into an implosion. Stand back and watch the carnage.
