A few weeks ago the weather in XXX went down and the airport was doing construction which disabled the sole ILS. In that case, the Captain's explanation about the delay and eventual cancellation was magnitudes better than the Gate Agent could have given. His PA included the weather required for our dispatch, so the more technically oriented passengers could monitor the situation in real time. They knew we needed visibility of at least 1 and 1/2.
