What are the rules governing calling in sick while on reserve? Do we still get 2.5 hours for each day out? What about if assigned a trip and then you call in sick for it, does the sick call pay out for the trip? Any blowback from the company if you call in sick with in 12 hours for a trip? Not sure how all this works with calling in sick while on reserve(actually never done it)...searched this forum, but not much came up.
Thanks.
The trip will be removed and you will get credited your guarantee; 70 hrs divided by the max number of on call days for a month. This month it is 18, so 3.89 hrs per sick call day. If you are mid rotation and have flown on the day you call in sick on, you will not get sick pay, nor will you get less credit than min reserve day. The subsequent days will be a R sick day.
If you are sick, you are sick, period. Let them call, give them what they ask within the confines of the PWA.
Also, make sure you call in well, and a "OK" is noted shortly after on your schedule. There have been some issues with pilots calling in well and it not showing up in the system. I had this happen to me a few months back.
