I would not spend a dime at Embry-Riddle if I had it to do over again. ERAU is a waste of money.

The only real advice I have to add is to repeat what I said earlier. It is super hard to get the motivation to study. You have to study A LOT to do stuff online. The professors try their best the explain stuff via email, but it can be very difficult to wrap your mind around things sometimes. When you are not in person you lose a lot of ability to grasp a concept sometimes. The only way you will pass is to make sure you are super motivated...

Did you go one of the main campuses at Daytona or Prescott? I've noticed that a majority of people usually recommending ERAU are Worldwide online or Extended campus students.

I don't think that Riddle has gone down hill or has lost any of its credibility as a industry leader in terms of providing a quality education at the bachelor, graduate and post-graduate levels. I do believe that Riddle's focus has shifted primarily from flight training to R&D. The "pond" has gotten larger with a wider variety of "fish". The good thing about it is that....we all have choices/options. That's a good thing!

Now, can this guy find cheaper online classes? Sure he can. I would suggest looking at attending an Extended campus location. That way, you have contact with a professor/instructor and can get instant feedback on any subject matter that you may be taking. Also, by having a background in LE and having at least your AS degree in aviation business or something to that affect, should open alot of doors for you, especially with the TSA or airport ops.

I just finished my second year at Riddle and if I was smart back right when I graduated High School I would have done summer classes at home at a community college and went the fall semester at that same community college and take credits that will go towards my degree. Then the Spring go there with a lot of the BS classes out of the way. O and also get at least my Instrument rating before going there.

Currently now I am taking 3 classes over the summer at home. I was going to do 5 but the community college wouldn't let me. Riddle gave me permission to take the 5 classes though.

What is hurting me is I am a AS Major along with a UAV and ATC Minor. So I will be staying next summer at Riddle taking classes to try to get done in four years

I enjoy it there a lot. I compete in R/C Aerobatics so that keeps me busy on the weekends and when I dont have class or studying to do! lol.

First...let me say that I wear an ERAU ring...and I wear it proudly. Someone posted that ERAU has gone downhill. Well...that all depends on one's perspective and experience. I know people who went to a high-end Big Ten and floated in as a loser because momma and daddy were connected. School is what you make it, the "professor" or "teacher" doesn't teach you...you teach yourself with the leadership and guidance of a teacher. My time at ERAU was amazing and I would do it again in a second.

Does "Worldwide" have it's limitations...yep...but you are the limitation. Work hard, dig in, connect, share, and want to learn and I promise you an amazing experience.

My daughter goes to a $50,000 per year Big Name University and she will tell you her high school education (ok...it was private high school) was harder and better. Don't underestimate ERAU.

I can afford this education for her because, in part, I went to ERAU. My only advice is to stay away from online class unless there are no other options. They are hard and isolated. I don't like them, but in a pinch...

From a slightly different angle, let's take a quick look at why you're doing the degree in the first place, which is how I counsel my folks when they're considering a degree program (usually a Masters).

Your employer/career field requires the 4-yr degree for further progression.
- There's a reason for this. It could be simply to give an easy way to make some decisions for promotions. But maybe they have other reasons - that education has value and that the work and formation you get out of your degree program may benefit you in your career. Strange and perhaps too idealistic of a concept, but there may be some validity to it.

So your possible decisions seem to be threefold:

1) The Nike. Pay your fee, get your B. Find the accredited degree that is the easiest (time/schedule/$) to complete, and Just Do It. Cost - your time and treasure with little else to say at the end of the day except that the box (who said "box?") is checked. Check to see if one of those schools in Grenada has a mail-in program that qualifies.

2) The Farragut: Get the highest quality degree you can afford (again time and $). Put your career on hold and get a full-up Harvard criminal law degree. Damn the torpedoes, full-speed ahead.

3) The Hostage Negotiator: Find a degree program between the top two options that helps your requirements (get an accredited degree), resources (stay within your time/$ budget), and desires for self-improvement to all "just get along."

I'd argue for #3, and in your case ERAU Online might just fit that bill. But, there is value to the other options. Decide which one you want and press.

I took ERAU classes both on campus and online. I really liked the online classes. It took me almost 2 hours of driving to get to classes which was completely eliminated when I started the online classes. The vast majority of my classes were in management and the books and software were excellent. If you're prepared to work hard on your own, you will do well.
