Saw this on the regional side and guess it was taken from the ExpressJet Forums. This is worth considering since one man took a stand and started this ball rolling in the public eye.

Folks,

We've been dealing with a lot due to the TSA and this governments handling of pilots and security. One of our own, Michael Roberts started this. He stood up for what he believed in. What a lot of us believe in. He stood by his convictions and did what he though was the right thing for this profession and this country. Many of us, myself included, haven't had the same courage to stand up. As a result Michael is on unpaid leave. Like many of us he has a family. I didn't have the courage to stand up like he did but I'd like to help him give his family a nice Holiday season. I'm not asking for a debate on whether he's handling it appropriately or if he could do it better. What I am asking is that whomever else agrees with me to pony up a couple bucks to help ease the stress I'm sure he's feeling some stress this Holiday season. If you can spare anything, 20 bucks, 10 bucks, whatever, please consider giving a little to Michael and his family. I think most people know and trust me and I'll open my account up to anyone to prove that anything donated goes directly to him. I'm going to start it off by giving $50. Anyone else who would like to give a couple bucks please send it to my pay-pal account. My email is [email protected]. Thank you.

Oh and feel free to pass on any fees to me and I'll take care of those as well. Thanks to the guys who've already kicked in!

Courage or stupidity
Question of the week right there Reddog...
You could ask the same question about most of the men who founded this country. There were plenty who didn't want to risk anything and stayed good, meek loyal subjects to ole King George....
ALPA should also help Michael, since because of the attention he got, TSA has removed some barrier and is speeding up and reducing the cost of Crew Pass which ALPA has been trying for years spending all that money. Now they saved a large expense they ALPA can also pony up.
Pilots need to take care of each other.

Good cause. Sadly, my opinion is that aid should come from his union.

I agree with everything he did and what he helped to start regarding the TSA basically being told.....

Express Jet, or whoever it is, should pony up for one of their own.

Frats,

Wow, I'm surprised by some of the responses here! Is there any wonder why our industry is in the state that it is. I'm Sorry EWRflyr even asked. Never mind...the Children will lead!

Remember this when you experience the good feeling of bypassing security with your new Crewpass access.

Onfinal

P.S. Yes, I sent my meager $25.00 to Michael on my meager regional F.O. salary.

ehrrr...Frats!
I agree. I'm pitching in some cash as well. Whether or not you like the way he has handled his encounters with the press, you have to admit that he did help push the issue to the fore front.....the TSA did the rest by refusing to use common sense and scoffing at public opinion.

Help him out if you can, I don't care who you are (and God bless the Pygmies in New Guinea)
I will be in with some when I get home from this trip.
Forget money, you guys should vote him in as president of ALPA.

Some of the comments here are just sad. REALLY sad.
