Banner tow
I keep reading about all this BS about Banner towing. I flew for Barnstormers Aerial Advertising in Myrtle Beach , S.C and have nothing but good things to say about this company. I logged about 1500 hours in two summers ( June-August). I paid for my training which I understood since I had a trainer with me for 30 hours and I was using their plane, gas and trainer.
If anyone has any questions pm me. Later.

Are you still on here?
Aside from banner flying (which i'm not totally opposed to but...seems that and pipeline flying have the highest frequency of crashes) do you know of other flying jobs that will hire low hours, or the resources for them? Location doesn't matter, I'm very flexible and willing to move basically anywhere to be able to log decent hours.

Thanks for any advice!

Quote: I have towed for 2 different companies. The first, in Myrtle Beach, was pretty typical. Horrible planes and very low pay. Had to pay for part of training too. I managed not to kill myself or have any incident whatsoever. Others were not so lucky. The second company, down in Hollywood, FL (ft. lauderdale basically) couldn't be farther from the first. Top notch mx dept. Pay was $45/hr. 2 hr weather cancelation pay. Tons of x-country time. Didn't pay a dime for training. Got job #1 with 250tt, 5 tw. The latter company has been known to hire both experienced banner towers and low timers. They usually like to see at least 25 tw. If I could do it again I never would have worked for the Myrtle outfit and would have tried to get on with the HollyHood guys. Draggin rags can be dangerous, I'll admit. But if you are careful and the company takes care of their equipment and pilots, it can be a great way to build time. I got 1200 hrs in 2 summers basically. Anyone can PM me for more info. Be glad to go into more detail.

Slato, welcome. After a minimum number of posts, your ability to send private messages is turned on. To send one, you click on the poster's name and that takes you to the write message tool. You can check your message status, or send messages, by selecting messages from the menu that can be selected from any page you are on. There is a poster about two or three from the very end who has or had a towing business. Do few posts in the pilot lounge area and then you have the ability to do so. Once you are able, contact that guy, get his his email and send him your resume. One piece of advice, if you want help from someone, don't post like you just did. Even if you are older, it comes across as being from a helpless millennial and won't usually get a posted response, as us aviators are supposed to be resourceful and have the ability to be able to think out of the box for a solution. So, send the PM and then be patient, as we aren't on here every day.
PM me for help or career questions anytime. Not sure I'll be able to help, but I'll try

Compared to what?

Banners? Dangerous?

Pipeline dangerous?

Who's been telling you this?

I am towing banners right now and I can tell you, It is only dangerous if you make it dangerous... or if the planes are well maintained(but poor maintenance is smaller cause of crashes) most of the banner towing accidents that happen are due to people simply not checking their hook.

I am also logging about 25 hours a week and making ~$35 an hour starting. its pretty nice for my first flying job.
