Agreed. United wants C5 to have 60+ jets. With their partial ownership they are positioned to make a lot of money with C5 flying their airplanes.
The most unfortunate player here is ExpressJet. CommutAir is growing and already operating 145s out of EWR, and now Air Wisconsin is threatening in ORD. If I were flying a 50 seater over there I'd be very concerned. Not sure what's going on between XJT and United. I always thought they were one of the better regionals out there.
United did advertise that they are expanding their operations. Slight chance this could be new flying versus covering for someone else.
