Does anyone know if Emirates is flexible about their "A minimum of 2500 hours total flying time on a modern commercial multi-engine, multi-crew aircraft jet." requirement? Specifically, asking for a military friend that has over 4,000 hrs in heavy military aircraft but no commercial time. Thanks.

Does a USAF military multiengine, multicrew aircraft meet that criteria?

The "commercial" bit is the important part for you guys. That means fare paying pax in the back. Grunts don't count. It may not make sense but.......

I think the word "commercial" doesnt mean to EK what it means to us. Basically, multi engine multi crew jet aircraft above 30 tonnes.

You're saying that one had to have operated aircraft for hire? PAX/Cargo?

It was explained to me that they required commercial airline time. Military time alone would not meet the requirements. However, it is certainly worth applying to find out. If there's a road-show near you, go along and ask specifically. You never know.

Applicants must have commercial airline time. That 2500 hour clause, which is below the normal minimum of 4000 hours was put in place specifically to get guys from Ryanair, Easyjet, and BMI Baby who were cadets that started at those place with 200 hours total time or less.

Guys retiring from the military with 4000 hours of C-17 time do not qualify. It doesn't make sense, but that is what the current policy is. One must have commercial airline time. It doesn't have to be the whole 4000 hours, it could only be a few hundred and it could be at a freight outfit as well.

Maximum age limit? Strict on vision/hearing? US class 1 medical doesn't appear to be enough.

Unofficially it's 48, but they have taken guys slightly older with a lot of experience.

The medical standards are roughly the same as the UK. No astronaut physicals like the Asian carriers, but they do require BMI within a limit.

BMI is in limits. Must be the age then. Lots more experience than others in bigger RJ's but guess that wasn't enough.
