"The historical experience of socialist countries has sadly demonstrated that collectivism does not do away with alienation but rather increases it, adding to it a lack of basic necessities and economic inefficiency."

Pope John Paul II
Quote: The tragedy in Waco is part of a larger story about the deregulation of business in
the name of pocketing massive profits.

'Free Market' Ayn Rand Ideology Was a Root Cause of the Horrific Explosion in Texas | Alternet
I guess the free market is also to blame for the shooting in Fort Hood and 9-11, right? After all it's impossible for you to call a spade a spade.
"If we cannot dare acknowledging reality, then how can we solve our problems? If we cannot bear an awareness of our systemic rot and unsustainability, then how can we move past denial and expediency?"

How could you possibly draw that conclusion from the article I linked?

You didn't read it did you?

Yes I did read it. And if we only had more government regulations then 9-11 and Fort Hood would not have happened because more government is always the answer to all of our problems. If it weren't for the government I wouldn't know how to get up in the morning and tie my shoes.

You have been a little scattered, it seems you think lack of gov is to blame for muslim terror and accidents with anhydrous ammonia.
Your premise is that free markets cause all woes, but we are very far from free markets in the areas cited.

Yep there are way too many people here that think that way.
Employment
Labor market statistics for March: 1. North Dakota: US state with the lowest unemployment rate at 3.3%.
2. William County, ND: US county with the lowest unemployment rate at 1%.
3. Midland, TX: US metropolitan area with the lowest unemployment rate at 3.1%.
What is the common factor here? These cities, counties and states are in regions experiencing booming, job-creating economic growth because of one common factor: shale oil.

No. It seems you can't get the gist of an article unless you actually read the article.

Quote:
The Boston Marathon bombing and the subsequent search for the perpetrators also was touched by John Galt. Technology has existed for nearly 20 years that can make individual production lots of explosives traceable. But when it came time to implement the technology, the NRA and other gun enthusiasts managed to limit the inclusion of taggants to plastic explosives and to specifically exempt black powder (otherwise known as gunpowder) from being required to be traceable.

The Boston bombs used black powder. If investigators had been able to know within hours of the blast where and when the black powder was purchased, would they have been able to arrest the bombers sooner and without the subsequent death of one police officer and near death of another?

The full shutdown of Boston on Friday would not have happened if the brothers had been arrested Wednesday or Thursday through tracing the black powder they purchased. But no, John Galt said that gunpowder manufacturers shouldn’t have to spend the extra pennies to tag production lots and the inclusion of taggants in gunpowder infringes the rights of gun owners in a de facto registration of their ammunition, so society has to suffer the consequences of this freedom...
