Does anybody know which base the new hires are going to?

I heard new base in MCI will be a junior base opening in Oct... Maybe there? Got an e-mail today for an interview invite. Hopefully I can set it up for 2-3 weeks from now.

Express Jet Updates?
MCI is the most junior base right now, followed by EWR, IAD, and CLE. Most senior bases are DEN and ORD with IAH somewhere in the middle. Everything is still changing with the new bases opening.

ExpressJet has become a messJet. Totally mismanaged into the ground. Huge wastes of money going on due to the inefficiencies. It used to be a great palce to work--for a regional. Now management wants a 10% salary cut--on top of the 7% concessions already taken in 2008. Pilots are up in arms and livid over this, especially since mgmt. gave themselves 50-70% raises while the airline slid into the toilet of cancellations due to inadequate staffing and min wage paid schedulers. Contract has been violated at every turn. Even pay is not accurate and every month you have fight with payroll to get paid correctly. This is the reality. Contract negotiations going from bothersome to getting very ugly. On the good side American Eagle pilots have said enough to the concessions and the pilots at ASA/XJT are lining up to say the same thing--that's 7,000 pilots! 1500 hr rule is making it hard to fill classes. Finally, the ball is rolling to the pilot's side of the court. Stay informed!

Not entirely true but close. It will get worse before it gets better.

Anyone have some recent gouge on the interview process? I have one scheduled for a few weeks from now. I hear the knowledge test is pretty tough. Any good study guides out there? Thanks.

Quote: Commuting and reserve sucks.. period. Prepare to test your marriage, expect to always have min days off. Which base were you thinking? MCI is driveable.
Do you know how bad is reserve in EWR ? I live about 2.5 hrs from EWR so I thought maybe I could go sit in a Starbucks to wait out reserve, do they get used often or just sit around forever ?

Approx how long are guys staying on reserve before holding a line ?

Thanks for any info on EWR reserve

I flew quite a lot when I was on reserve, quite often doing day trips. This might become annoying doing day turns for a BVT turn if you're 2.5 out! Luckily, in EWR you shouldn't stay on reserve for very long. I was on reserve for 3 months before holding a line since. Of course, lots of hiring was going on then, but it looks like timing is good for you right now.

Anyway, there are several guys that drive in from far out. Not for me given the expense of tolls and gas add up.
