Quote: The Max should let them go a little farther south right? I imagine though, the money to be made is the Central American, Caribbean, and South American lite cities not the Deep South. Lima, Bogota, Honduras, etc etc.
So what does the contract say about premium for those locations? It can be VERY frustrating flying to some of those places, not to mention potentially hazardous for RONs.

With a possible 500 next year, that ought to be a clean 30 slots made available for civilian pilots.

Quote: Pretty sure Honduras is on the table. Roatan, San Pedro Sula would be great destinations. I just hope we stay out of Tegucigalpa.
Come on ya pansy! Where's your sense of sporting adventure? I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

SWA likes military pilots, but how does enlisted military and 121 time stack up? Check airmen letter also? Any other things they like to help stand out?

It all helps.

A type
PIC
Lots of total time

Remember, the computer is picking the applications, not a person. Check as many boxes as you can and get your times competitive with other civilian applicants who have had north of 6,000 total hours and well over 1,000 TPIC. All that other stuff you have really does help though, or at least I think it does. The only thing more secretive than the hiring formula is what destinations we will be flying to next year.

Also, it definitely goes in waves. A lot of the new captains I am flying with are civilian. I would say around 40-50 percent.

From a couple of Check Airman here that seem to be in the know, competitive hours 3-4000 hours, 1000 PIC turbine. Evaluator/Check Airman time seems to be the ticket. We were told a couple of months ago 400 were going to be hired in the late spring. From looking at the previous posts some of the gouge is good. I love Southwest and I can see some haters here some from AirTran, don't listen to them, Southwest has changed but it is a great company.

You smell new. Report back in a year. That is all.
