Quote: Tier Description?

I understand that Delta uses a "Tier" system in ranking potential candidates. Does anyone know what makes up a Tier? I've read that Delta is currently interviewing Tier 1 candidates; what are the credentials that make up Tier 1?

Also has anyone who had an interview scheduled that was canceled when hiring was suspended last time been called for an interview? I had a interview scheduled and I received an email telling me it was canceled. Anyone else in the same situation?
Had a friend in that situation. He called back to re-schedule when hiring started again, and was told he no longer was "qualified"for the interview.

Quote: Better avionics maybe, but the noise level is atrocious on the 737s.
There's a definite fatigue factor caused by all that racket.

The Mad Dog and the bigger Boeings are like a church sanctuary by comparison.
Yes, I was referencing avionics and also cockpit temperature.

The -900s have the VGs on the nose that help the noise a lot.

I have heard others say that their are tiers as well but one of the guys I just talked to at OBAP said its more like folders. I heard a guy say he got can interview and Arnie told him he was in tier II. Their is absolutely no one that knows what makes up tier I or tier II. It would appear that those being called right now have TPIC time with high GPA's from college. This is not all that is required as their are many that have other things that stand out on their resume to get the interview.

Quote: Neither here nor there. But that's one of the biggest ironies of the regional/"commuter" business arrangement.

And it wouldn't matter the size of the aircraft, could be a B1900/Metroliner and irony would STILL exist.
Its no more "ironic" than DL passing on a mil applicant that AA then takes. Even one that flies government "VIP's". Big deal though. Seriously. This is such a non event. Plenty of pilots get turned down by one DCI (or UEX, etc) carrier only to get hired by another. Is that also "ironic"?

The ridiculous implication is that DL somehow finds them blatantly unsafe to fly DL pax, but there they are flying DL pax. That is such a stupid way to look at it. There are tons of foreign code shares out there and I'm sure whatever amount of applicants some day apply to DL, the success rate isn't 100%. Nothing is outside a direct flow (and even then…)

The DL interview isn't just about who has the basic stick and rudder competency to fly aircraft for DL. Every candidate they interview and ever have and ever will is "qualified" legally but so what. Its about the unique corporate culture and attitude as much as anything else, and making sure the applicant will be the best fit (to the extent possible in any interview system). Some good ones miss out, and some questionable ones may slip in from time to time, but its a pretty good system.

People getting wrapped around the spray deflector thinking this is some burning indictment of hypocracy waiting to turn into some supreme irony mega lawsuit supernova of validating righteousness are going to be severely dissapointed.

Do you have any numbers for what TPIC and GPAs are getting the calls currently? Do they also have FE or other stink separating them that your average joe can get?

I am not sure how much TPIC they are looking for but was told it was a requirement for an interview. I have actually heard of FO's with no TPIC that have gotten an interview too so I wouldn't say it's an absolute. If you have military time then that ranks really high with Delta as well. Most of the GPA's I have heard are all 3.6 and higher. Again this is not an absolute too.

Just curious, do you know the breakdown of the 8 applicants (Military, Regional, Corp...) and which two didn't get the offer?

Thanks and Congratulations!
