Got an interview coming up with AWAC, and some former coworkers at RAH willing to put my résumé in the right hands. Also going to see them at a job fair on the 18th.

The issues as I see them:

RAH: Growth on the Republic certificate, cool airplane. Pay, work rules leave a bit to be desired. Possible DCA base, but more likely CMH or IND.

AWAC: Great pay rates and contract. 50 seaters, but apparently AWAC can make money with them. Willing to buy anger aircraft as contracts demand. Uncertainty past 2015, but a lot of their guys expect them to figure it out. Also possible DCA base, more likely ORF to start.

Again, all thoughts and insights appreciated.

Republic sounds like the best option these days. My roommate has been an FO for just over a year at RAH. His only complaint was first year pay. Other than that, he really enjoys the job and looks forward to the future growth. He also thinks the 170 is awesome to fly. No matter what you end up doing, be sure to stay away from aircraft that make you angry. I have flown several "anger" aircraft and it really starts to wear you out. Good luck...

No offense, but either your friend is an idiot, walks around with his eyes closed, or is an S&M fan because this place sucks!

But, but.... your engines are under the wings!

So what about it sucks? Not trolling, serious question. I've heard reserve can be a killer.

I'm on second year pay at AWAC and I make more than a 5 year FO at republic. Plus I get cancellation pay.

And duty and tip rigs, etc...... There's much to be said for all that. How much can you credit in a month in general?

The 2015 question is an interesting one though.

To the oroginal posters, this should be the only reason you should consider. Who cares about the 170 being easy to fly? (I have a sweet spot for crj as i have flown both) .. airplane is an airplane the money is what matters. When you have to pay mortgage / rent they dont ask you what you fly, they ask you what you make.

I average between 85-100 credit without picking up open time. Last month was about 105 credit.

It wouldnt take you long to get DCA. Maybe a couple months if that. AWAC is definitely the better choice.... you'll end up with more days off, better schedule, and better pay.
