I'm willing to bet that 90% of the time it's not Brickyard asking for the sequence. But yes, I agree with you it is dead sexy

Guys, TallFlyer is a good dude just trying to make the right decision. Sometimes it's hard to get your point across without being misunderstood, which may have happened here to some degree.

There are certainly some tools in this industry, but he isn't one. The guy has certainly paid his dues as well. I wish my company was currently hiring so I could help him out.

AWAC has better pay and work rules. Clean airplanes, fancy cockpit doo-dads and climb rates don't matter much when you're a regional pilot.

Is it possible to get DCA base straight out of training at republic? And if so, how long until you start holding a line?

Possibly, I haven't held a line yet and I've been here a year.

If you're 6'1 can you stand up in the cabin at AWAC? Also, on this website, APC, I found AWAC's profile under regional but I couldn't find RAH. I just randomly decided to look under Major-National and found it. Is there any reason why AWAC is under regional and RAH considered a Major?

I was going to do up this big multi quote post, but I've decided to be lazy and just wing it.

First, wrx, thanks for the kind words. Central CA in a Bro actually sounds kinda fun and I've got some dear friends in the Bay and Sacramento areas. Being able to come back to DEN, COS, or SLC on the jet would be pretty cool too. MSP works though.

Second, all other things being equal (pay, work rules, etc), if I were given a choice between the CRJ and the E Jet I'd take the latter every time. Sure, it's got more bells and whistles and all that, but more importantly it's a type that has far more value in the expat and corp market if one were to find themselves out of work one day. Some have also mentioned that it doesn't hurt to have if you're applying to Airways or jetBlue, but I think that's much less of a consideration.

Is it enough to choose RAH over AWAC? For some it might be if their mentality was to get the type and bail soon after for greener pastures, but that's not the boat I find myself in.

Third, my only reason for starting these threads is doing the utmost due diligence on any job offers moving forward. I've got an interview at AWAC, and I've got a few contacts at RAH. Like most guys looking for work I'm applying EVERYWHERE, and I think regional recruiters understand this. My plan is to spend the next 4-5 years at my next job while hopefully finishing off a degree in hopes of making myself competitive for the next level. I think regional recruiters understand that too.

Lastly, I don't really care if the regional recruiters know who I am or not. I use this same screen name on every forum I'm a part of. I've hung out with guys from JC in Vegas and I've had beers and BBQ with the guys at PPW. Who I am is not that big of a secret.

If the only reason you're here is to play the passive aggressive Internet tough guy role might I suggest you find something more productive to do?

But in case it really matters to any AWAC recruiters reading this: I'll be at the Aero Crew Solutions job fair on the 18th. I'll most likely be the tallest guy in the room (6'7" will fit in an RJ, right?) with short red hair wearing my one and only suit. (us Alaska and freight dog types usually don't need more than one) Even though I already have an interview with you ill drop by your booth and shake your hand. If you addressed me as TallFlyer that would be hilarious. I'll have updated copies of my résumé and a business card if you want one. I'll have all the PRIA forms you sent me as well so if you want those early you can have them too. Don't forget to check my references. I've worked with some damn good guys over the years who'd I'd go the extra mile for and I'm fortunate that they'd do the same for me.

3 days after that I'll see you in Norfolk and we'll talk more then. If you offer me a job I'm 99% sure I'm taking it, because it speaks volumes to me that just about every single one of your pilots that I've interacted with have positive things to say. Your pay rates and rigs don't hurt either. Yes, the "2015 question" looms large but at the same time all your guys seem to trust management to deal with that as well. Bottom line I'm coming there to enjoy the flying, then have a life on my days off.

Hope I wasn't unclear in all that.

The technical definition has to do with how much revenue the companies generate in a year. They also have SkyWest and ExpressJet in the "Major" I believe.

Aside from that measure, I'd put RAH firmly in the regional category.

This and RAH planes say "express" on the side.

Rumor has it if you're hired on at RAH and stand 5'9", that as little as one year later you will grow to 6'1". That's how awesome RAH is.
