Has there been any indication on when these parts of the mou other than pay go into effect? The mou raises min days off to 13, when do we start to see that?

More importantly the reserve rules in the mou are still not clearly defined, when do we get firm info on some of these sections?

Lastly pbs is supposed to be implemented Jan, had a software vendor been chosen?.

What I am sure you will see is, any section favoring mgmt instituted ASAP. Any section that would favor the pilots, well you see, we have some issues, and well we don't have the manpower to program that into the systems. We will get right on it, and have it available as soon as we can figure out how to do it.
Prime case: ACARS, how fast was it switched, and how long has it been for them to correct it?

Unfortunately, too many holes etc. 401k plan. Did ya know that the RSP was going to be immediately switched the the American Super Saver? Seems that has been on hold, but anything that can be switched, to save money or favor the corp will be, the rest....oh we'll get to it when we can.... Get used to it.

The scheduling systems will remain as they are today for quite some time after the POR. Don't expect to see an extra day off immediately, but short call reserve guarantee won't go down to 73 hours either. We will be running 3 separate scheduling systems into next year, possibly until PBS is implemented. As far as reserve rules, there is nothing in the MOU about reserve rules. Perhaps you are thinking about the APA contract. Each scheduling system (East, West, and APA) will change slightly with the new FAR 117 being implemented Jan 4th, 2014. Currently, both APA and USAPA are working with AMR and US Airways to sign a PBS MOU to cover all pilots. I would expect that to be signed within the next 6 to 8 weeks. After the PBS MOU is signed a vendor will be selected. After the PBS MOU is signed, it will take about a year to put the new PBS system into service. I would expect September or October of next year as a best case scenario. Hope that helps.

Eastie: I believe you are correct. My friends that are the West SMEs for PBS have been meeting with the APA. I don't think they have settled on a vendor yet. But I have heard that PBS is on as fast a track as possible.

On the other issues - as an example the east and west flight attendants were combined a few months ago when they reached a joint contract. There were a number of changes that had to be made to align the two groups. Every item that favored the company was implemented right away, the items favoring the FAs were put off until PBS, even some issues that really were not affected by PBS implementation.

I just want my two days off.

At my last carrier they implemented a JCBA combining 3 pilot groups. The company claimed that one of the groups was too under staffed to allow them to take the new minimum number of days off until the could integrate and bring up the staffing. As a compromise they were allowed to schedule pilots below the new minimum number of days off for a period of time. Any pilot who was scheduled below that was paid a premium, 1.5 or 2.0 times (I forget which number) the min day pay above guarantee for each day below the new minimum in a bid month. In addition they banked a compensatory day off which then could be used after the allotted amount of time that the company had to bring up the staffing.

What is the definition for reserve call out time, once the POR is done? "Reasonably available by ground transportation"....anybody have any idea?

When there is a JCBA and all scheduling systems are combined, you'll get your extra day off per month. But while you're waiting to get that extra day off, you'll get paid an additional 3 hours per month if you're a short call on the East and 4 hours per month if you're a shortcall on the West. On third year pay, that's an additional $300+ per month. If you're a West pilot, its almost an additional $500 per month(with the extra day off). If you're a long call pilot on the East, you'll be taking home $100+ less per month. But don't worry, as soon as the scheduling systems are combined we will lose our ability to bid long call for the entire month. So if you're a commuter, you better plan on being a block holder when the systems are combined or else you'll be spending a lot of time in the crashpad.

It's been covered by AA pilots in another thread, but I don't believe anyone has ever been called into the chief pilots office for reporting within 3 hours at AA. I'm sure an AA pilot can give you more guidance.

David and Dennis are good guys and very knowledgeable. A vendor has all but been selected, but it's too early to announce that at this time. The new system will be different from the current West system (for the better). The new PBS system will probably go into effect for the West pilots first since they already use PBS. It will take a little more time to implement PBS for AA pilots and East US pilots. As far as the other sections of scheduling, the company has been put on notice that they will not be allowed to implement things willy nilly. If they want to implement something early, they will have to go through the negotiating committee and it will be a tit for tat implementation. Something for the company, something for the pilots. Honestly, with FAR 117 coming, all company resourses are being poured into that. There isn't time between the POR and January to reprogram the West and the East to the new AA scheduling system. AA hasn't even implemented parts of the new system for their pilots yet. I would expect the scheduling systems will be combined later next year.
