NTSB: No engine failure in fatal UPS plane crash - Yahoo! Finance
Eager to find out what the hell happened.

Eager to find out what the expert on CNN saying the way the fans looked meant the airplane was below flight idle based on how intact they were says.
I just can believe that we keep posting comments by media outlets and pseudo experts. By doing so we empower them.

Posting reports like that here are irrelevant, pretty much every person here think the same of our trusted news media, and if you agree with them experts, well it's like taking Miles O'Brian serious, talking about the stalling characteristics of an A300-6 after flying his katana on a sunny, un congested cool morning on any given Sunday after his latte...

Lets wait for the report.

Posting updates from the NTSB is not irrelevant in my opinion.
Wait for the report? You don't think there can good discussion prior to the actual issuance of the final report?
The UPS Dubai report is just out. You think that discusssions about lithium batteries should not have been discussed until now as an example?
This forum ought to have a good idea of which pieces of information are worth dicussing and which are not, and for the younger, less experienced members of the forum, it is even a good lesson in being discerning in what you read and believe (like that statstical graph posting from SOOOWEET, or whatever that site was called)

Quote: I hope this buffoon is referring to another incident. The black boxes haven't even been analyzed yet. Was this aviation "expert" an eyewitness ? Does his thirty years of experience involve anything large than a C172 ?!?! At least what happens here is merely speculation and not blatant assumptions / accusations.

If you're a paid media mouthpiece and you don't have anything to say, you'd better make something up quickly...

Unfortunately, self-serving actions tend to skew reasonable behavior.

There is nothing like the media outlets immediately trotting out their self-proclaimed experts (studio lizards) that hang around the studio and on-call to address every matter imaginable. The story is evolving as it is reported and these has-beens already have the situation all figured out and what should have been done based on their “opinion.” Nothing based on relevant facts, just an immediate opinion.

The more bs and hype the so-called expert can deliver, the happier the media outlet is. They have their go-to windbags they can count on to deliver drivel while the never ending film loops roll on and on in the background.

I guess this proves after all that as long as you stayed at a Holiday Express Inn last night, you are qualified to do and comment on anything as an expert.

If you listen to the NTSB media briefing, Robert Sumwalt actually says "there is no evidence of an uncontained engine failure or pre impact engine fire".

That statement does not preclude an engine failure, just that IF there was it was not uncontained.

Be careful listening to anything written or said by the news. NTSB briefings are available on YouTube.

From the NTSB brief - Preliminary CVR sounds of sink rate at -16 seconds, runway in sight at -13, and first impact at -9.

Condolences to all that knew them.

Can the A300 generate a "snowflake" or electronic glideslope for a visual approach programmed into the FMS?
