Quote: that actually used to happen in the DC3 !
This happens all the time in the C-46. Flying through a rainstorm is much worse though.

You depart when nobody else will and tower wishes you luck.

You fly IFR everyday and haven't looked at your charts or plates in months. In fact you don't even know when they expire.

You would lose all sanity if it wasn't for the ADF and am radio stations.

-You've had the same route for so long, you correct center on freqs, MEAs, and route fixes and help the "new controllers" familiarize themselves with the area.
-Final and/or tower upon recognizing your voice decides to squeeze you in between two AC already on final, because they know you'll be off the runway in time.
-You've used the windshield defrost vents to warm up dinner.
-You described to the controller what the tornado looks like.
-You land with a "reported" RVR of 1800 and as soon as you taxi off the runway, it magically drops back down to 600 and the airport closes down.
-Cactus doesn't want to follow you through the cell on final because he doesn't trust your definition of "light to moderate".
-You've had to hangar the plane to let the ice in the fuel tank melt so you can then sump it.
-You land and FOD the ramp with all the ice falling off your plane.
-You can't get a quick-turn because the line guys can't fuel in the conditions you just flew in.

*You write a maintenance discrepancy in the aircraft clipboard and it mysteriously dissapears.
*You use a flashlight during night as a taxi light.
*Level 5 storm is on the other side of the field and Tower clears you for takeoff without hesitation.
*Chuck Norris is scared to fly your company's airplanes.
*You're the only one of your pilot friends to have done a CatIV approach.
*You hear center asking you to IDENT on a regular basis because your crappy radios don't work right.
*You get to the hotel room for the overnight and it hasn't been cleaned. You stay in it anyways because you're so tired you just want to go to sleep.
*Hotel van drivers don't expect a tip from you because they know what your salary is.
*Sometimes you'd rather drive the company car than fly the airplanes. Said company car hasn't passed inspection in 2 years, is missing a side mirror, has only one wiper, door locks don't work, you have to use McGyver techniques to start it, and you carry a box full of oil quarts in it

-You email said AM stations with song requests and times you'll be overhead

-Prior to frequency changes, controllers broadcast "WAKE UP!"

-There are more collared circuit breakers than uncollared

-"In flight comfort breaks" consist of sticking one end of a hose out the whiskey hatch, and the other end....

When other AC are told to taxi behind the xxx and they reply "taxi behind the aircraft left to right" because they have never seen one before. Its a Convair buddy..

That is funny! What was the controller's response? I wonder if it was published "in full".

Thanks
