Quote: I can't speak for Spirit but the upgrade at blue is around 4 years for both planes now but it does change often.

So to be safe let's say 4 years for the 190 and 6 for the bus but that is being very cautious.

We still have a little over 10 planes a year for the next few years coming and jetblue has stated it MUST grow to become a real player.

They have BIG plans for FLL and it will see a lot of growth.
With the right leadership this place could make tons of cash.
We have been paying down debt and investing in infrastructure so I think the future COULD be very bright here.

On the merger side I would think jetBlue would be the target of one.
The only people I ever see merging with Spirit is Frontier.
Jetblue is a target in my opinion, one of the big reasons for the huge yes vote to ALPA.

Good luck.....
Who is targeting Jetblue? The big 3 will not be allowed to merge with Jetblue due to Jetblue's size in New York. The DOJ would never allow it.

If you absolutely hate the northeast then go to Spirit. JetBlue is a BOS/JFK centric airline, and you'll be waiting many extra years for upgrades in other bases.

Quote: The short rib, carrots, mashed potatoes, salad, and triple chocolate chip cookie I got today on my SAP turn begs to differ. Also on the previous 3 flights I've flown too!

Oh, and Delta.
Steak, mashed potatoes, great beans, green and corn salad, and cheese cake last night. You putting on weight too 80?

I agree. At least not in the next 10 years.

First of all, who cares about "catering"' I mean really guys..........you wonder why a lot of pilots are overweight and on the verge of stroking out. Airplane food will kill you and lead to the diabeeeeetus.

Go to the first one that calls. Trying to figure out which airline will be great 30 years from now is impossible, unless it's Delta of course.

I absolutely love working here, (spirit) the only thing that I worry about is commuting in the future. With all this growth and ACY staying stagnant, just doesn't give me a good feeling. I hope Spirit will have a base in The NE for as long as we are around but who knows......

Lastly, I'm not sure what you have heard but the "company" has never treated me poorly per se. Yes their interpretation of a few contractual items make me scratch my head, however I have been treated with nothing but respect from, training scheduling, instructors, gate agents & even crew scheduling.

I'm also expecting pretty significant gains come 2015........

(Don't ever go to an airline based on upgrade, it always changes and ultimately every F/O at a major airline should be making enough $$$$$$ as an F/O where we don't "have" to upgrade)

Just trying to become a widebody captain. That's what they mean by that, right?

Jetblue vs Spirit
I would never say never with the DOJ accepting another merger ..... It's all money and politics .... Everyone said the same thing after Delta / Northwest merger ....

Money changes everything x and all the DOj would have to say about a b6 merger is give up some slots in JFK, boom problem solved ,

Never say never

Thanks you saved me from typing that.

My only point was IF there is to be a merger I would bet JetBlue is part of it. Could be good could be bad who knows.

Get the right bankers and politicians, trade some slots sell some planes and you have yourself a merger.

I will say this about Spirit...last 3 months.....20 days off, 21 days off, 18 days off. Thats almost 2 out of the last 3 months off. 21 out of the last 23 has been off. Hard days off, not the "I was on reserve and didnt get called junk."

Never went below guarantee on any months to achieve this.

We have a ways to go to get the $$ up, im confident C2015 will make up our shortfalls in this department. Until then, I have been pretty happy here.

I hope ACY sticks around for the long haul too. I do get a little discouraged though with all these new routes opening and no love for ACY. It's definitely not helping the stagnation there.

That being said... I love this place. No regrets coming here at all. I don't think you can make a bad choice either way. We have some catching up to do, but I think contract '15 will solve that.
