HIV provides an interesting comparison. HIV is transmitted like Ebola, but is much less contagious than Ebola. How many people are walking around the U.S. with HIV? And could you pick them out as you walk through the mall, political correctness or not? I'm simply saying we should be more concerned with putting our arms around the disease rather than just those who currently have it. Not much talk about that on the airwaves.
Additionally some dude in a cave or a tent somewhere is trying to figure out how to get Ebola onto a cruise ship or into the misters at Disney in July. There is no quarantine large enough for that.
Sorry, HIV is far different than Ebola
The transmission is much, much different
Also, one may have HIV but never develop AIDS. (eg. Magic Johnson)
People with HIV & AIDS can now fight the disease with a wide variety of readily available drugs that are being produced in sufficient quantities
None of this is true about Enola at this time
Yes --- we should aggressively pursue a cure...or vaccine
But, the risks of Ebola and HIV are not equivalent
