Thanks for the input. And I think I found my answer, the 2500 requirement is a CBA thing at my company too. That's where I heard it.

It does not have to be strictly 1000 SIC 121 time in order to qualify. It can also be pt 91 PIC (typable aircraft) or pt 135 PIC or any combination to amount to 1000 hours...

Tsa operates in some pretty challenging areas of the country especially with weather and delays as well as older planes that break down. Most need more than 1000sic to feel comfortable upgrading. But there's always going to be that one dingleberry that upgrades ASAP and tries to get caught up in the left seat.

You were close, but I fixed it for you. 5 years isn't current in Hou's book. 🚀🚀🚀

Quote: What is your recommendation for the industry, maybe we should start with that. ie what is an acceptable amount of hours in your book for a regional airline captain?
3,000TT min because most likely they will be paired with a new 1500TT FO and that is a recipe for disaster

So 500 magical hours flips the switch and makes it a green light? What a crock

Things were way safer when we had 1500 hour captains and 250 hour FO's. Today's system is crazy!

Doesn't flip a switch but is certainly a good place to start. A flight instructor who has 1500 hrs and gets hired as an FO and then upgrades right at 1000 doc i don't believe had the necessary experience to handle the tough scenarios as a captain

It's not rocket science. I think maybe you are projecting your own inabilities into the situation.
