Hahaha that's funny.
but I'm being serious for a second.
i understand essential services but we're not first responders. I had 3-5 pax on each flight this weekend. It sure feels silly doing a Capt welcome PA to 70 empty seats. But that's not my point.
My point is that we're not helping the national situation.

what does that have to do with our job?
We don’t make national policy. If we just stop flying Delta will cease to exist.

Essential service and first responder are not mutually exclusive. Delta made commitments to fly those planes, your job is to fly the plane. It’s an accountants job to worry about making it profitable. Not that you shouldn’t be concerned, but mission one remains moving the plane, full or empty to the correct destination safely.

I'm not advocating walking off the job. I'm out there flying every day. I just think it's absurd that govt has shut down all group activities for health concerns but not the obvious one.

Or maybe I'm just frustrated cause I'm putting my family at risk every time I come home from a trip. Hell maybe I'll just move to the garage and go back to lurking on this thread.

Change your clothes in the garage.
we are no different than Doctors, nurses, cashiers, or any other profession that does face to face. Bring wipes from home if needed to sanitize your office and the hotel room knobs, handles, remote. Pack a pillow case from home if you’re worried. Bring a can of Lysol. Act like an adult be prepared

we will never learn because it’s business as usual. April needs to be a complete reset. Kill the fuel that’s spreading this fire. We are not like Doctors or nurses. Flying is not essential right now.

You can’t kill this thing!!! It just has to run its course at this point. There’s already so much of it everywhere. It’s going to spread whether we fly or not. And probably at the same rate.

This. We all talk about flattening the curve, but no one talks about potentially just pushing the spike in the curve four weeks out. Imagine killing the economy in this wave, and then needing to quarantine the whole country for real?

Isn’t that what we’re doing?

Right now: we're killing the economy and locally/voluntarily quarantining. There is no mandatory nationwide quarantine.
Two weeks from now: people start going outside again.
Four weeks from now: the curve unflattens, and we're all told a) to do this again, either on a local/national voluntary/involuntary basis, or b) to suck it up for the sake of the economy.

In either scenario, if the curve unflattens, then we've done all this for nothing. It's not like people are building immunity while sitting at home doing nothing.

Of course, don't go visiting your parents/grandparents right now. I'm not saying this thing isn't serious. I'm critical of the approach, though.
