Quote: As guys retire the guys junior to them inherit their seniority numbers. So no, unless there's additional flying it probability won't go more junior, but in five years a new hire today will be at least 3200 numbers more senior.

Right now it looks like about you can get ORD almost immediately (within 200 numbers of the junior guy on property) and junior line holders are about 1000 numbers from the bottom. That's about two years worth of retirements.
Is that 73 or 75?

Really it comes down to United and AA as the main push as they both have the chance of staying in Chicago. With all the retirements there should be good movement in both to get back to ORD shortly. Thanks for the info!

That's most likely the 737 and MD80. I don't think there's a 75/76 domestic ORD bid status anymore. Only Intl... and it's somewhat of a dying fleet. (Even though they will eventually keep about 25 767s and 35 757s.)

Aww, hoping it comes true! Missed it on the last vacancy run by 70#s (LGA/320)...but didn't have my bid on for that. Don't wanna commute to bottom reserve. So I only have it in for DCA...and I'm a good 3-5 years away from that.

I just finished my first year as 73 CA in MIA in June. Wow do I fly a lot. 737I is a very busy bid status. Lots of misconnects and trips just pop open constantly.
aa73 will make a great CA! He is patient, handsome and has great hair last time I looked on FB.
Here in MIA we go to Cuba a lot, there are a lot of 4 leg turns and 8 leg 3 day trips and 10 leg 4 day trips.
It's a lot.
I waited along time to be CA and enjoy it but it's hard going form easiest job 777 FO to 737 CA.
I fly with a lot of Eagle flow thrus and they all say "Welcome to the worlds largest commuter airline" meaning we fly a lot!

Yesterday I saw a turn pop open for today. PTP Guadeloupe. When did we start this? Big turn just past St kitts.

Would you do it again ? I'm 10% in my bid status , and ~300 away from CA. Would be commuting from IAH, which is fairly painless to Mia or LAX. I commuted to reserve for years, but not under the new system.

Yes Joe, I would do it again.
If you are a 737 FO you'll love it. If you come from 777 or 75/76 then you'll love being CA but hate the 737-800. It is awful.

I enjoy taxxiing the airplane. Occasionally on the triple someone would let me taxi, a blind monkey can taxi a 777. It's that effortless.

For me it was 19 years and 1 month since I was PIC and I missed taxiing. I enjoy making flight plan decisions and solving problems as nicely as possible, and in an enjoyable manner for everyone.

I try to and am nice to everyone. I do take easy Q's at the gate when printing the flight plan to help the gate agents. Only easy Q's though.

The new reserve system works much better than older leveling systems.

The 737D CA's work less than us 737I CA's.

I live in Ft laud so it is manageable for me. I get premium every month and turn lots of it down.

I only did LC last Nov and Dec and I liked it because those were slow months sort of. And I could plan better things like tennis and women LOL

I might, it'll be close get a line with PBS in Feb 2017.

Private message me your number and I can tell you more.

7576,
I'm a little less patient, keep my hair short, and "handsome" is in the eye of the beholder:I look like a Saint... a Saint Bernard.

Still, going from 737 FO to 737 CA in base (my situation) is a different breed than going from WB FO to NB CA. I could never do WB FO due to my issues with sleeping off my time zones and the inability to sleep at all on the airplane...so I'm stuck being a NB pilot for my entire career...but I much prefer domestic schedules than intl schedules anyway. Yes we work a little more but the type of work is much easier in my opinion - I never fly redeyes, I report for work in the afternoon and get done by midnight, and tend to fly 2 legs/day. It's really a lot easier for me than the 8+ hrs flying all night and then trying to adjust to weird time zones.

To each their own though!

Still waiting to hit some tennis balls w/ ya some day...

Cheers!
