Is the commute out of Den worth it? Or sitting at home on reserve @ Swa.

"That said, I am on track for a little under 1300 hours of credit this year. I picked up 2 trips--a short 4 day and a longer 9 day trip this year, and also was drafted for a 10 day trip. I sold back vacation for 2 out of 4 available periods, and got paid for a training trip to the states. "

Wow! Add in the signing bonus and the simple math says you're pushing $500K this year. How many Captains at SWA are making $500K I wonder?

You are about 100 high. Best year yet, and probably an anomaly with some good luck. But our LCAs our here...well...they do very very well. The issue is manning. Even if you TRY to just fly your line, a lot of trips get revised/extended. Great for the pocket, but not so great if you have a family trip or event the last day of your trip. I think once domicile gets spun up 100% that may slow down.

I suspect the big W-2s are in 75/76 training...they are again doing 2 AM boxes for initial quals. That place must be nuts.

I never was in a "new" or growing fleet but rather in dying fleets for most of my career here. The 76 is surging, and I expect anyone who goes to it will see an expanding bidpack and more and more options.

Quote: Pax vs boxes is another thing to consider.

Boxes don't complain about anything. No FA's to be responsible for, either.
As my dad used to say "cargo doesn't talk back"

Think you got your math wrong. 1300X286=$371K, plus bonus and little raise in November, around 400K like Albie said. But I think there are plenty of Captains making more, either working more or on the 777.

Oh yeah? Try flying sea lions around.

And after they do their business, they like to roll around in it. No passenger could ever smell so bad!

Oh yes, you can't make this stuff up. Give me a whale charter any time, a bit of a hassle, but no smell.

5 out of the 6 people interviewing in my friends interview group were SWA guys. Speaks volumes.

[QUOTE=StillFlying;2244155]Looking for your input or at least a conversation going. In 2006, there was a post asking this same question, but I’m guessing a lot has probably changed in the last decade.

Got a job offer from SWA and FDX, trying to make final decision.

What was your final decision?
